Kai Kawashima has been named the Aberdeen Rotary Student of the Month for February. He participates in Mathletes and is president of Japanese Club, a group of students who explore and learn about Japanese culture. Kai is a musician with the Marching band and is currently the dive captain for the school swim/dive team, and a member of the tennis and track teams.

Kai is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and has donated many hours toward their fund raising events and helping with the construction projects.

“After high school I plan to attend DigiPen Institute of Technology for 4 years and acquire the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. From there, I hope to work for a major tech company.”

Each year, the Aberdeen Rotary Club honors Aberdeen High School Seniors through the Student of the Month recognition and scholarship program. One senior is recognized each month between October and May. In June, two of these eight students are then selected for either the $1000 “Blue” or $2000 “Gold” scholarship to the school of their choice.
