Free Community Meal @ Saron Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian
Feb 28 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

We decided we wanted to provide a meal for our Grays Harbor neighbors. This is not a religious worship, but rather a free resource for the community. At Saron Lutheran and First Presbyterian, we feel our mission is to support the community and give back to those who live here. These monthly meals are one of the ways we are trying to live out this call.”

“All are welcome to attend this meal,” Associate Pastor Jeani Shofner added. “We know it can be hard to get across town to the other places hot meals are offered. We are hoping this ministry can grow to become more frequent in the future.”

COASST Marine Debris Training @ Ocean Shores Library
Apr 15 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
COASST Marine Debris Training @ Ocean Shores Library | Ocean Shores | Washington | United States

The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) will deliver a free training session for citizens interested in joining the COASST Marine Debris program. The COASST Marine Debris program is focused on the intersection of science, conservation, and communities. Through an interactive, hands-on workshop, trainees will learn how to collect data on the characteristics and location of debris – data that will ultimately be used to map the source and transport pathways of debris and to identify potential harm to people, wildlife, and local coastal ecosystems.

There is no charge to attend, but we ask participants to provide a $20 refundable deposit if they would like to take home a COASST survey toolkit. Beach surveys are best conducted in groups of 2 or more – please come with a survey partner in mind or plan to join a team during training. No prior experience is necessary, just a commitment to survey a specific beach at least once a month. Training activities take place indoors. Reserve your training spot by calling emailing.

Driftwood Theater presents “Love Letters” by A.R. Gurney @ Driftwood Theater

Driftwood Theater presents "Love Letters" by A.R. Gurney @ Driftwood Theater | Aberdeen | Washington | United States

LOVE LETTERS

Written by A. R. Gurney

Directed by Ben Hohman

Reader’s Theatre for all ages.

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank you notes and summer camp postcards. Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters through the boarding school and college years, where Andy goes on to excel at Yale and law school, while Melissa flunks out of a series of “good schools.” While Andy if off at war, Melissa marries, but her attachment to Andy remains strong and she continues to keep in touch as he marries, becomes a successful attorney, gets involved in politics and eventually is elected to the U.S. Senate. Meanwhile, her marriage in tatters, Melissa dabbles in art and gigolos, drinks more than she should and becomes estranged from her children. Eventually she and Andy do become involved in a brief affair, but it is too late for both of them. However, Andy’s last letter, written to her mother after Melissa’s untimely death, makes it eloquently clear how much they really meant and gave to each other over the years; physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.

Performance dates: Every Friday and Saturday evening with curtain time at 7:30. Each weekend features a different cast.

Tickets are $15.00 and are available online at:
