According to Republican strategists, Sarah Palin is being kept from the media for the next two weeks so she can go to a "boot camp" to prepare her for the rest of the campaign. Their excuse?

Todd Harris, one of the McCain campaign strategists, said "she might make a mistake, and that could haunt us down the line."

So, she's ready to be Vice President... just not ready to be a Vice Presidential candidate?

From all the squawking about Palin the Democrats are doing, I just have to believe you see that this woman is an asset to McCain and a threat to your election chances.

She is not. This election is yours to lose only if Obama does dumb things or WWIII breaks out.

I like Sarah a lot. Her fast rise shows she is bright and, more importantly, a fast learner.

Two weeks and she will knock the stuffing out of Biden.

I disagree. Two weeks and maybe she'll go through the debate(s)/campaign appearances/media interviews without making a huge foopaw that will haunt the McSame/Palin ticket anymore than her and John's flip flops on every freakin' issue do.

But, she will never "knock the stuffing out of Biden". If he doesn't reduce her to a whimpering ragdoll, the McSame/Palin staff will consider that a victory which could be distorted to "knocking the stuffing" out of him. But, Biden is way too skilled to allow anyone to get him.

I think you must be correct to some extent. Based on the last eight years, Obama should be ahead in the polls by double digit percentage points. I understand it's still way too early to make any determination of the election outcome based on current polling, but IMO it shouldn't even be close. Maybe McCain doesn't accept the idea he's the republican sacrificial lamb in this election. Palin seems to be connecting with some voters, and maybe McCain now thinks he might even have a chance.

Certainly there's an element of fear. We fear that Americans have become so accustomed to ineptitude that picking a VP at random out of the phone book is considered by most to be a good idea.

She's not equipped to debate Biden. You won't see many, and those in which she does not spontaneously melt into a puddle of goo on stage, will be considered victories; she exceeded expectations.
