I agree. I personally know of several incidents where Hoquiam Police Officers could have, and possibly should have, shot a person brandishing a weapon but chose to hold their fire. Our local police officers are definitely not "trigger happy."

I have a relative that used to do this kind of work and he is not a lot older than Paul. Confrontations like this sometimes have a victim but it is years later that it appears. Nightmares, stress, failed marriages and, in his case, a stroke in his middle thirties.

I have nothing but respect for people who can do this job and do it well. I don't take lightly what they put on the line and what they accomplish. Our community is lucky to have professionals doing that work.

Yup, great work. My kudos and respect for a job well done.

And much appreciation to the spouses and family of LE officers who are left at home to worry and pray that their loved one comes home after each shift. I'm sure that is a heavy burden.
