"We the people" don't have a choice. We always have a choice from declared Skygodders. Whether they are really deluded believers or simply making the ceremonial proclamation of faith, it is simply the rool with which we have to flow.

Your "faith" imbeds every thread. Not good or bad, just reality. Oh, and btw, I realize that may actually be a comliment to a skygodder.

Declared religious affiliation does seem to be a requirement for elected office to a sizable portion of the electorate. Even running for city council (how often do matters of religious importance come up in Aberdeen City Council meetings? I can't think of any), I had a few people that as I met them, the very first thing they asked was what church I went to. Of course, that usually leads into "our country is heading in a bad direction" and "these kids today".

Bill Maher pointed out in his film Religulious that atheists could be the untapped minority, at about 16% of the population. That number puts them as a bigger demographic than most minorities.

Having a heated "discussion" about Israel is perilous because of the tag "anti-semite" that awaits anyone who accuses Israel of anything. It is important to absolutely qualify any argument regarding Israel with a list of the cast of characters and their role in the formation and politics of the country. To that end, the Israel that needs to be discussed is the one heavily influenced by the Russian tribe of Ashkenazi Zionists. To follow their influence, it becomes apparent that they are the true anti-semites, haters of both sephardic Jews and Arabs. Every attempt is made by them to direct world opinion by trading on the Holocaust. Their influence in the U.S. is insidious. Poor, put upon Israel, surrounded by enemies, is the constant indoctrination we are treated to and have grown to accept. Even with the long list of provocations and retaliations they are responsible for, under the flag of Israel, it is difficult and sometimes dangerous to pin the tail on the Zionist. But now people care less about the nuances or await Armageddon to herald the fulfillment of their gilded edge black book?
The latest Israeli/Palestinian incident surpassed my exasperation point...again.
