I really don't know what to make of this. In fact, I chose not to bring this subject up until now when the Portland Police Department re-opened the case: story link.

Quote:
Portland, Oregon , police have decided to reopen the investigation into a 54-year-old masseuse's allegations that former Vice President Al Gore sexually assaulted her in his hotel room in 2006.

Massage therapist Molly Haggerty claims Gore "pinned" her and assaulted her."The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to re-open the case regarding the allegations brought forward against Mr. Al Gore," a statement posted on the Portland Police Bureau's website this evening said.

"Consistent with our policy regarding open investigations, the Police Bureau will not be commenting on any additional specifics regarding this case at this time," it said.

A family spokeswoman said today that the Gores welcomed the new investigation.

"Further investigation into this matter will only benefit Mr. Gore," Kalee Kreider said. "The Gores cannot comment on every defamatory, misleading, and inaccurate story generated by tabloids. Mr. Gore unequivocally and emphatically denied this accusation when he first learned of its existence three years ago. He stands by that denial."

The Multnomah County district attorney said the woman, who was not identified by name, had refused to cooperate with police after her attorney made the initial complaint six weeks after the alleged incident.

A spokesperson for the former vice president said then that the family had no comment on the case.

According to a 73-page "Confidential Special Report" made public by authorities on June 23, the "licensed massage therapist" stated she was summoned to a suite at the upscale Lucia Hotel at the request of a guest, where "during the course of this massage session Al Gore did sexually assault me in his room."

In a detailed statement given to police more than two years after the alleged incident the woman described her surprise at arriving for the VIP massage appointment to find Al Gore drinking beer and opening his arms in a hug saying "Call Me Al."

But she said her VIP client later turned "angry and threatening" when she resisted Gore's efforts to force her hand to his inner thigh and lower abdominal area during the massage and then attempted to rip her clothes as she struggled against him, she told police

I just have to ask: Was this part of the training he got from Clinton? grin

Guilty or not, from this point on if you say Sex Poodle who will people think of?

I'm surprised the social worker has kept her fingers out of this thread.

According to the DOJ, 60% of sexual assaults are never reported, and there are reasons why there's a 6 year statute of limitations for sexual assault cases in Oregon. Ms. Hagerty would have to be dumber than a concrete block not to understand the pressing of charges against Al Gore would mean a very public personal smear campaign against her.

It will be interesting to see if Gore sticks to his unequivocal and emphatic denial of the accusation and lets a court clear him, or if he quietly pays her off for her silence.

Man up and take a polygraph, Mr. Gore.
If you are innocent of the accusation you shouldn't hesitate to clear your name in a very public way,
taking the wind right out of the media's sails.
Man up.

They have the information they need to decide whether to charge private citizen Gore with a crime.

Until they do, it's none of my business. If they don't, it's because they believe that there is no probable cause to believe a crime occurred.

In the US we don't ask people to take polygraph tests to prove they didn't commit crimes of which they haven't been charged.

Hmmm.... DB Cooper bailed out over water. Kayaks travel over water. Man up IKY, you should prove you're not DB Cooper.

Baum said that does not surprise her. She said in the first days after her daughter's disappearance, investigators asked her to take a polygraph test. She agreed.

"I tried to be pretty open and honest," said Baum, "Because my focus was, don't waste [their] time. Find my kid."

The one where supposed Christians are desperate to "expose" the alleged sexual indiscretions of people who don't matter any more, all to "prove" some nebulous point that doesn't exist.

I am glad you're admitting that Al Gore doesn't matter.
Perhaps there is some hope for you yet.

Salon has in interesting article, How one paper tried, and failed to confirm Al Gore sex allegations.

“The truth is we very much wanted to report the story on Al Gore,” said Mark Garber, 54, executive editor of the Tribune, a 60,000-circulation free weekly that also publishes news every day online. “We worked on it for a year so that we could report the story. There’s nothing we would have liked more.”

This is the type of case where accusation is tantamount to conviction.

Yes, that is an interesting article.

I don't believe there will ever be a conviction, do you?
