The former Denny's on Heron Street has a new paint job and sign identifying it as "America's Diner." I'm told the owner dropped his dropped his Denny's franchise.

No more Grand Slams.

Wow, that was a quick change.

Some Denny's are called Denny's Diner instead of just Denny's. I think it's their attempt to cash in on the diner craze. Maybe that's what's happened?

Oh.My...if they've dropped the senior sized chicken-fried steak, my mom isn't going to know what to order for lunch. Yikes!

I think the last time I walked through the doors of a Denny's was 30 years ago in Sioux City, Iowa.

That would be my preference. Unfortunately, having a mom who likes to go out to lunch, who has Alzheimer's and only wants to be taken to Denny's, makes that impossible. It's within her current comfort zone and she doesn't adjust to any change well. It will be interesting to see her reaction and it may not be pretty.

According to today's World, it is indeed not a part of Denny's, but they expect to have better food as a result.

Yikes. My condolences about the Alzheimer's. It's from the pit of hell.

Thank goodness my own mother is hooked on Savory Faire, although she will send me down to the Crow's Nest for a fajita wrap and fries.
