I bought at what turned out to be the top of the market. Oh well, bad timing. But I am glad that I refused to even look at the houses that were near the top end of what lenders were trying to get me to borrow. Our thought was that just because that we could get that much money, it didn't mean that we could afford it. Also, we figured that we should be safe and assume that some point down the road, the economy would change, and we needed an affordability cushion, so to speak. I'm so glad we did. I just wish that others had, so we wouldn't be in this position as a country.
