Finally someone is asking about the handpainted blue and white and now tan and brown signs that are showing up around town. Who the heck is this person/group and what do they want? Signs are confusing at best and most signed as P.V.#3.

Its Craig Heiller (sp?) who is running for County Commissioner for District 3. His nickname is Pancho Villa which is where the "P.V.#3" comes from.

Whoever he is, judging from his signs, he is not "playing with a full deck."

Ditto for me. The signs look like a 5 yr old did them and mom threw them out.

ha!

should have known the answer would be found here!!

I kinda like them, but I am a bit off center and get real tired of the same old thing at election time...it seems kind of having fun with this morbid event every fall.

that's just me and I am very happy to get the answer!! (who needs the daily world??)

Apparently he ran for County Commissioner in Josephine County, Oregon. Also City Council in Vista California.

Here are some recent articles about some legal issues he had in California this year along with some campaign issues from a few years ago:

"I will rededicate myself to public service in Washington," Heiller told Pressman as he exited the courtroom.

Oh great!

Of course the charges were reduced to misdemeanors. If he was convicted of a felony, he wouldn't be allowed to run for county commissioner.

If your like me and out here on the North Beach then you are probably very familiar with Mr. Villa

He has a little place out on the highway and his sign's are common sight to anyone out here, mostly bashing Al Carter who I think was his favorite target for a while...

I talked to him on the phone a couple times, harmless little man but I have to agree with the not playing w/ a full deck comment...

I've seen a few signs on empty lots that later disappear, I wonder if he gets permission to post them?

How come it is so easy for California to kick the garbage to Washington State. I have read the signs. The signs that are made to let us know he's running for County Commissioner. Apparently being aggressive and mean makes any one a Candidate to make Grays Harbor a better place? He really needs to try it in another state another county where nobody knows him. Most Everyone knows who he is and if he gets votes it would be a miracle. If you dont know him take one drive by his Business and you will find out.
In short Would you want a guy who threatened a city official? HELL NO Would you want a guy who was kicked out of another state to run your County? HELL NO
I dont know much about Al Carter But he's a WHOLE LOT better then a man who calls himself Pancho Villa
By the way... No flyers out in the mail? Or Articles in the area newspapers to tell people who he is and and what he has for qualifications if any at all?
Read the Fine Print before you vote ....

I have to vote for Al, he has maintained a venue for the young people that play in bands...one of the only places they can perform locally since Alfie's closed. That is enough for me to have huge respect for him. (and I just got my ballot!! Happy voting)

I've always liked Al as a County Commissioner, I wish it wasn't libel to campaign against someone, because I think some people might not see the check box for bozo, but might see a check box for a dead Mexican Revolutionary.

(shameless plug)
P.V. will be on Doug's show Wednesday btw, if you're out of area you can catch it on the streamer - www.kbkw.com embedded player link right in the middle. Delays will be on...finger on button.

I also saw a new sign leaned up against that tire store near Swansons, early in the day on Sunday. It boldly proclaimed Al Carter to be a 'commie'..wth???

Later in the day it was gone.

hehe well not that kind of embedded... I hate those. No this one is a link to a player, the link on the left is a winamp stream - but not as many people have winamp these days.

So P.V. says the hand-painted signs are his way of saving the taxpayer's money.

P.V. on KBKW: "I can't directly say that I'm running for office with the view of immediately getting elected and getting a big paycheck, I'm running for office to try to make a difference in the world."

Actually, it's not libel. A few years back, our state supreme court decided that it's legal to lie about a candidate in political campaigns. And, of course, if you're telling the truth, it's not libel anyway.

I was working for the local tow company on the beach. One night while comming up on the approach by the Shilo I saw Pancha Villa with a chain saw chopping up the root ball that washed up. It was then a really neat attraction to have your picture taken on with huge spikes (actually still is, but no spikes). I asked him why are you cutting up that cool root ball? He told me "because he wanted to make a statement to the Ocean city state park dept. They were closed on a holiday and he couldnt get a permit to cut wood on the beach, so he would show them". So he illegally cut wood because he wasnt smart enough to get a permit the day before when they were open or the day after. He couldnt sell trash cans full of water soaked wood. I find it odd to screw up something so awesome looking and that added such delight to all the beach visitors. He was only out for himself. I stereo type him as a druggy.

SO if he's running for commish...dont you think we should at least have a man who doesn't post signs all over town to make it look like a 5 year old was set loose with fingerpaints? Or a vandal getting loose with hammers and nails only to post his signs on property that isn't his? Gimme a break take one look at the signs on his property freedom of speech is one thing but some of what he says is offensive.
He should at least have respect for his community.

Well, that's one mystery solved. I was curious to know what happened to that root ball.

P.V. is a nut, no doubt about it.
