Anyone know where i can find a map showing where the flood plain is? I don't want to pay for flood insurance anymore and want to move out of the flood plain.

It's obsolete, however. The flood zone is undergoing periodic reevaluation and a new map is pending.

What area are you specifically looking? Aberdeen, Hoquiam, rural or another area. Most cities have the information as does the county.

For Aberdeen you can go to the second floor of city hall and obtain the info you need.

I'm not sure about looking online. I checked the Army Corp of Engineer site and could not find the specific info. But then I only looked for a minute. I thought it was on the Aberdeen website but did not see it. I will look into getting that on there.

The common sense solution is to move onto a hill. If global warming turns out to be a fact it is the only solution since flood plain designations would change.

If the maps can be found on line, they would be on the FEMA website.

Okay one of those Duh! moments. Let me just place my brain back into my head now. I knew that but with all the talk about the Chehalis River and the "solutions" up near Centralia/Chehalis I apparently had the Corp of Engineers on the brain.

This might help though it probably does not have the exact info you are looking for it will tell you what FEMA is up to and provide some updates to their map.

Yes. You can get the current map for your location online at FEMA. It is kind of klunky, but it is the map that is used. What you would google is FEMA firmette.
