Oh, crap! Gotta go stock up on Florentines. Maybe I can finally pry the recipe out of someone there. Oh, Becca...

Breakwater, too? No more outside restaurants for our few sunny and warm days in Grays Harbor? With yummy and reasonably priced shrimp/chips or fish/chips meals, too. Double crap!

This is definately lousy news. I didn't frequent the Breakwater. But, when I did it was good. Suzie's will be sorely missed.

I've yet to be disappointed with a meal at the 8th St. Ale House. Fantastic food and atmosphere...

=-( That stinks. We eat there 2-3 times monthly. Well, just a couple more reasons to turn left instead of right when leaving Monte. Definitely will miss Suzie's and Breakwater.

Likewise. Great place. But, they make a lousy Caipirinha.

I had to google that because I've never heard of it before... If it isn't Men's Room or Manny's, I don't know what it is. grin

Ah, yes. The Caipirinha. The national drink of Brazil. Made with cachaça, distilled from sugar cane. There are other drinks and many are good. The Real for example has serano pepper syrup in it. But, the caipirinha is, by far, the best.

No matter what the web says:

Slice and muddle 1/2 lime with 1 1/2 tbs sugar. I use Baker's Sugar.
Fill a decent size glass with ice cubes. I've used crushed, but cubes are better. Add 4 oz. of cachaça. Shake the beejeezus out of it. Drink.

On the next one, alter to suit taste: smaller glass, less booze, less ice, more/less lime. It's all good.

And, then go buy more cachaça. Through December at least, the liquor store has Pirassanungua Cachaça on sale for $20.95 a 5th.

Heaven in a glass.

True but it has a lousy view.

ETA: I was thinking from the back. I forgot you can sit in the front, right? OK, that will do as long as I can face the river.

I don't like sitting out front to eat. On a warm afternoon, I'd sit out front for a beer.

Sitting out back for food is ok. You're correct about lack of view. However, both front and back are smoking areas. Sometimes it is not an option.
