A Tragic Death

I had a near death experience in an ER.
Same light, three angels, inexpressible joy and peace.
I believe.

Thank you for sharing this. Sad yet inspiring.

Inspiring? Hardly. "I wish the Emergency Medical Staff hadn't revived me so I could have followed the bright light and died!" Today, he's alive and making videos seen by other kids suggesting dying is better than living. Inspiring? Nope.

Did you get something different from his index cards?

He died on Christmas from a heart attack.

That's too bad. But, I didn't get that from the video and still think the video says to watchers, "I wish I would have died... or stayed dead... rather than have EMS officials revive me."

I, too think it is ok or even good to feel comfortable with our inevevitable death. But, as I'm sure you are aware, chasing the euphoria and white light of a near death experience is much different than being ready to die when it's time. Telling a bunch of teenagers, "I saw it! I saw it! It's the best. I can't wait to get back there! I wish they hadn' brought me back! Love the white light!" is not inspiring in the least to me.

He didn't say he wanted to die.

You have totally missed the point. He is dying, knows he will soon be dead. Because of his dying and being revived he has some knowledge to pass along. Death isn't the end. He believes in God.

It is weird you see something negative in it.

Not so weird at all. I can see how the message can romanticize death to over emotional teenagers.

I will speak for myself.
There was no "chasing the euphoria and white light"..it was just there...and the peace. But as lovely and as comforting as it was, there seemed to be an understanding that I would stay here with my five day old infant.

It was quite an interesting experience being somewhat in that dimension of peace and yet being aware of everything and everyone in the ER...feeling completely detached from all the commotion and the tension...even panic around me. I learned that med staff aren't alway as cool, calm, and collected as depicted on TV when they think they're losing a patient...they yell...a lot! lol

He said he wished he hadn't awakened... that the medical personnel trying to revive had failed.

I think it's a little odd anyone wouldn't.

I have to admit to getting distracted by the dog and only read the first half or so. I do find it inspiring that a young person can be at peace with the inevitability and never considered that anyone would view it as a way to justify suicide. Anyway, just like confirmation that there's something beyond endless sleep because I plan to throw some amazing dinner parties with some of the folks I expect to meet up with when I get there and enjoy playing with the late, great best dog ever.

This didn't do that. It suggests the process of dying can be euphoric with a bright light. AND, if the EMS workers are successful, and you DON'T DIE, the euphoria goes away and the only bright light you see is in the emergency room.

But, I'm going to get off this kick. I, like others, am pleased the young lad didn't fear death. I don't either. I fear dying. I figure it's going to hurt like the dickens. But I don't fear death.

Some creative editing gives your point credibility. Ben doesn't save he believe in jesus, nor accept jesus as his god. Arguing with Stash, who will just check out some day, is pointless. Debating with people who disagree with your view of the afterlife destination might be more fun. I don't believe Ben is with your god. I pray he's not.

I'm glad the Emergency workers were able to save your daughter. I assume she's glad they did and has no desire to hurry back to the white light. Now, that would be a good video. "When you see the white light and feel really calm, don't be lulled into a false sense of security. Keep fighting and come back to us!"

I have a friend who died and came back who experienced nothing. You would think the white light/peacefulness thing wouldn't be so selective in picking people.

Some would think that. Some would create a god to explain it. Others would assume without a medical or scientific background that the biological, physical, and emotional occurances when the circulatory and respiratory systems stop effect different individuals differently.

Would those same 'others' have an explanation for why they lack the ability for faith? Intelligence isn't the answer as there are plenty of high IQs amongst the faith bunch. Are they biologically, physically or emotionally crippled because they lack this component?

I kinda hope for the bright lights and comfort myself when my time comes.

This. Regardless of what your religious beliefs or lack thereof are, I think we would all want to experience comfort and peace in our final moments.

It is quite possible that you will.

That is a very poor description of faith. Perhaps someone better equipped can give you a better one.

My guess is it is a lot like one of your senses and not describable to someone lacking it. It is easy to take as something silly because some people certainly help make it that way. All in all, though, I think it is an ability. You have it or you don't. You may pity those with the ability and I am betting that they pity you right back.

Maybe seeing the Light is a portent of those whose names were not written in the Book of Life at the foundation of the world, and have not been blotted out by the Lamb.

Heap scorn on the hapless fools who are not (pre)destined to an eternal life with the Almighty.

Compared to the other categories of experiencers, fewer people in the atheist category [1] attempted suicide, [2] saw spirits among the living, [3] received a homecoming, [4] received forgotten knowledge, [5] received past life knowledge, and were [6] told they are not ready to die, than in any other category of experiencer.

This is not surprising to me at all.

Actually, I think it kind of prooves my assertions about the whole process. That is, humans when faced with the unknown, often create a god to explain it. I am optomistic, the species will outgrow this tendency.

Humans are outgrowing it. The last to gods created by man are:
Allah = 595A.C.E (approx)
jesus = 001A.C.E

So we are working on 1500 C.E. years without the creation of a new god.
