I for one would appreciate a Forum Group that allows for the discussion of local radio shows and their guests. I'm hoping there are more like me out there. So a short yes/no poll.

Would you see a Talk Coffee and/or 9@Live groups for the site advantageous?

Thanks for your participation. There is no guarantee the site admins/mods will create them. It's just data gathering.

The advantage of a Talk Coffee segment is that we could eat while reading or responding to posts.

DEAD AIR. Doug does this a lot. Isn't that the first no-no of a live radio show? Bill W. must not pay him much; thus Doug is cheap to keep around.

He is no Ken Shram. Hell, he isn't even a John Carlson. wink

I think any talk about radio programs would fit well in the Local section. But if there was an extra section, that would be fine, too.

I'd rather the dead air than listen to Doug chew. wink

I think many of us listen to it. Hence the request for the separate section.

It's a tie when Bill Simpson is on air. In his absence it's Doug.

Where did Dave put the weather. It's been a while since I've been to the website and the weather is missing.

Guess where it is.

Doug is not very electronically savvy and often has difficulty finding things on his screen and in his e-mail. You would think as many times that he has had the problem, he would do some homework in his off hours so he could be more adept at it. Doug mostly turns subjects back to himself and becomes defensive if he thinks anyone is suggesting he doesn't know it all so for him to even admit he isn't good on the computer is amazing.

Does anyone else besides Doug think he sounds anything at all like Elvis? Just as Dave saved us all from the sounds of Doug's chewing and eating on air, perhaps he could rescue us from the endless Elvis imitations as well.

It's funny to read all the CT listener posts, those who must actually enjoy getting annoyed/irritated by Doug. smile

As much as I get annoyed and irratated by Doug, I do appreciate the show. We are fortunate to have that venue and I must admit it keeps me abreast of what is happening around the County in areas other than where I live or work. He has a few irratating habits but overall it is a good show.

It's not (merely) a matter of intelligence.

People make choices through conscious or subconscious cost-benefit analysis. Obviously, for those who remain listeners, the "cost" of listening to Doug's irritating habits have been calculated to be less than the benefit they derive from listening. Unless, of course, they suffer from a self-defeating personality disorder. Then that's a whole different story. lol

bored on a holiday here, so sorry this is an old one....

I have found the Coffee Talk show to be annoying, the same people call in, he does not even have to ask who it is, ha!! I guess that is kinda funny, haha!

It just does not seem like that good a show, but I am usually already at work and have no access to a radio, so my vote should be voided out.

Right now, I am listening to Dori Monson on podcast, now THAT is my preference, funny, interesting, etc.

It is a great show to keep abreast of what is happening in the Community. yes the same people call in for the most part but every now and then someone new will add to the conversation. I have called in before but I listen online so there is quite a delay so often when I have called the subject has changed by the time my call is answered. In spite of Doug being irratating and some callers annoying, I believe it is a very good service to the community to have the show and the opportunity to vent.

Doug is a douchenozzle
His recent show with the fuckwits from Homeland Security, then his inability to understand any criticism the callers had after the show aired proves he's a douchenozzle.

I tuned in just as he was having a pissing match with a caller taking exception to Doug's compliance with the censuring. The proper response for Doug should have been to tell Homeland Security "Thanks but No Thanks" to the interview. I didn't hear it, but from all accounts it was wasted air time.

As long as they keep the chiropractor on every damn Thursday, we already know "wasted air" is not of concern to them. Thursdays at 9:00 on KBKW is the best advertisment "Live @ 9" on KXRO can ever have.

I can understand a great or even GOOD talk show host playing "devils advocate" on occasion but Doug's REFUSAL to even acknowledge the criticism as not one but MANY callers agreed is outright mind boggling. I think I heard one old lady call in and throw Doug a pity endorsement and that was pathetic.

Did you hear on today's(4.16.12) show the lunatic old lady call in about republitards "Denying" votes. He was all over her meat curtains in agreement and then another caller calls in getting into the "horrible republitards" circle jerk. Dougs all over that dudes shorn scrotum in agreement. Get this the very NEXT caller calls in and goes way against the previous two (Cause well they were both way wrong) and Doug calls out "It's collateral damage" when the dudes talking about protecting the vote from Illegals.

Really Doug?!?! Seriously!?!? Pick a side OR debate both views.

I actually called in the day after the Homeland Security show and got so pissed I told him that he was smoking something and hung up. All he wanted to do is cut me off, then re-explain for the 20th time why he did the show. When he couldn't handle me he went calling for Dave to back him up.

The show this morning just cemented things for me, that certain folks can call in with talking points from either side and Doug will either miss the point or fence sit.

It was a waste, and as one caller pointed out that any question the officials didn't want to answer would be labeled political in nature.

And finally someone besides me is a little irked that a spine popper is allowed to give medical advice, and pop psychology on the air.

I'm glad I missed all this. I rarely listen anymore.

Although I'm not so negative about the Dr. Mark show but, then again, I'm biased there. Because of him I live normally and pain-free because he achieved what two other chiropractors and a physical therapist couldn't, and an orthopedic surgeon who just wanted to fuse my back.

I'm not impressed with the allopathic approach to health so I appreciate Dr. Mark's attempts to educate people to alternative treatments. But that's for a different discussion, not for a TalkCoffee thread.

Unless there are more folk who think Thursdays at nine are some of the worst radio available (I realize the bar is set low on a station with Michael Savage) and flip channels or turn the radio off.
