I am not an ACLU fan but the numbers are ugly. Since we keep that base open anyway, how much cost would that be and did they deduct that from these costs.

A tangential topic that I stumbled upon; did you know that the training advice to CIA interrogators who arrived at Guantanamo bay in 2002 was cribbed from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions from American prisoners? The original study was entitled "Communist Attempts to Elicit False Confessions From Air Force Prisoners of War".

Chart #1 from the study was photocopied (albeit with a new title) and provided to newly promoted interrogators for use at the prison, who were then supposed to act surprised that the techniques obtained false confessions. Of course they were false - "how to obtain false confessions" was the title of the document they used for training.

I think this is a timely reminder of how bad it can be, and the cost of picking the wrong guy for president.
