Does anyone know what they are or were doing to the triangular lot on Market across from the Timber Gym and Harbor Tool Rental? They were going great guns on cleaning it up, fill dirt and leveling the lot and then all of a sudden the work seems to have stopped.

I believe it was being used as a staging/laydown area by a contractor that was installing handicap curbs at street corners in Aberdeen. They're gone and it will probably look like that for years to come.

More of the "Status Quo" that the Mayor refers to. Sad as downtown is beginning to look like a war zone. Chain link fences and boarded up windows nearly on every block. Too bad too as some of the business owners really went the extra mile to fix their buildings and make them look inviting only to have these others chase visitors away. Thanks for your response.

Actually I believe the sidewalk project was shut for the winter. If I am remembering correctly (no guarantee of that) they will get started again in the spring which is why the fence remained for now.

Aberdeen Public Works recently completed similar projects on Broadway and are doing sidewalks on State St. Maybe out-of-towners can't handle local weather?

Speaking of sidewalk projects, would you know who might have responsibility for fixing the sidewalk at the head of Fuller Way?

Do you mean at the intersection of Fuller and Wishkah?

Yes. Trying to cross Fuller Way at that point is very awkward for anyone on a bicycle or pushing a baby carriage. I wonder if it meets standards for crosswalks.

As that specific section is tied to a state highway I am not completely sure who would be responsible for crosswalks at that intersection.

The sidewalk itself should be the responsiblility of the city or abutting property owner but there is a very small chance it is the state. If you email Larry Bledsoe at the City of Aberdeen he can tell you for sure.
