This is profound. And so very, very true.


I would agree if the word "religion" in the quote were replaced with the word "church". Though I am a pagan, in the sense of being irreligious, I believe that religious beliefs can be held individually by folks who are not members of a church and who have never perpetrated hate, slaughter, and etc. Churches, however, routinely perpetrate such. Churches, generally speaking, are just as corrupt, if not more so, as other of our institutions.

One often hears folks complaining that courts, in interpreting the Constitution, have removed religion from schools and other public institutions. The Constitution removed churches from public institutions, not religion.

I think there is an important distinction, which is too often overlooked, thus the mini-rant.
