Meet Dolly Parton! She is a 65-oound, 8-year-old, pit bull mix who up to now has had a mysterious life. Miss Parton was dumped at Hank’s Lake, thankfully found by a good Samaritan, and brought to safety! Because she was a stray it is unknown how she does in a home with dogs, cats, other animals, or children.
Dolly Parton is a bit shy and reserved but loves to be pet and scratched. She has her volunteer favorites that will sit in bed with her to give cuddles! She loves to be outside for walks, cruising the yard with you, and loves fun in the snow. Vet staff named her Dolly Parton as she will give you quite the concert and loves to sing just like her namesake. She is doing well in the shelter environment, adapting to new friends, and was successfully introduced to quiet, reserved 10+ year-old children. In regard to other dogs, she is curious and reserved.
We have noticed that she does have difficulty hearing. We do get visual response from her before leashing or petting and approach her from the right side. Please be aware she does not want anything around her food bowls. She will need time, patience, and training to be comfortable. This senior companion will need a securely fenced yard.
If you have further questions, emails are the only method of communication at this time. We all care about the health of our two-legged caregivers and the community at large, so as a precaution we are temporarily suspending our public open hours. We are still taking email inquiries and applications, and will be in touch with you as soon as we are able. We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time! Stay Well!
