The Women’s International Wine Competition, exclusively judged by females, awarded Westport Winery two gold medals on May 17,2022.

Lighthouse, a white Riesling harvested at Weinbau Vineyards in the Wahluke Slope AVA, earned a gold medal and a 93-point rating. Winemaker Mark Bosso said the age of the vines contributed to its success. “Weinbau is a historic vineyard and the vines for our Reisling are some of the most mature in our harvest.”

A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Grays Harbor Lighthouse Restoration Fund. The label features an original watercolor by Darryl Easter of the winery’s iconic lighthouse, which is the sculpture commemorating this wine.

Little Wild blackberry Riesling received a gold medal and a 90-point rating. This Riesling is also from Weinbau Vineyard. The label features winery owner’s Blain and Kim Roberts’ Chow Chows, Curzon and Lulu, playing the role of the bears. Although both dogs have passed, this is a sweet reminder of their beautiful spirits. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties Master Gardener. The sculpture commemorating this wine is of a bear gorging on berries by Warren Heathers of South Bend, Washington. It is located in the Tapestry of Thyme Garden.
