Paved Trail Perfect for Kids Near Montesano

The paved loop trail is a beautiful winding path that meanders through wetland, woods and meadow. There are several interpretive signs from viewing docks and it features a stunning canopy of trees that provides four seasons of beauty. On any given day visitors both local and from out of state enjoy the serenity of the trail. Parents teach their children how to ride a bike, grandparents let the kids run and explore while the well-designed playground offers a fun place for youth to expend their energy.

Looking for a place near the Washington coast to birdwatch with kids? Birdwatchers are drawn to this location as there are a variety of species to view including bald eagles, hawks, ducks, songbirds, osprey and Canadian geese to name a few.

Camping, Walking, Fishing and Playing with the Kids Near the Washington Coast

Friends Landing, located only 45 minutes from the state capital of Olympia and 45 minutes from Westport, is a multi-generational gem for outdoor recreation. The Chehalis River can be accessed for fishing and there is a boat launch giving access to both the river as well as Lake Quigg, which has several piers and floating docks to introduce youth to fishing or just nature watching.

Reservations for the pavilion can be booked free of charge and offer picnic benches and a barbecue for grilling, making this a wonderful option for birthday parties. After hot dogs and birthday cake, kids can run over to the playground or adventure around the paved trail on their bikes. The bathrooms are well cared for and close to the pavilion as well as the playground. Make a reservation for your overnight visit with the family or just stop by to enjoy the trail and other recreational opportunities being offered at Friends Landing.
