Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates Reflects on a Banner Year of Community Partnership While Looking Forward to a Great 2023

Each passing year brings time for reflection on what we have accomplished, overcome and built. Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates (FASA) has been deeply invested in community since opening 20 years ago, and was thrilled to celebrate their 20th anniversary in July of 2022. Supporting local efforts to bring people together and promote health, happiness and recreation has brought fulfillment to their entire team. They are all looking forward to a full and impactful year ahead and welcome new patients to come experience premier care with a local team you know and trust. With five local clinics, there is a convenient location ready to provide exceptional treatment for all your foot and ankle needs.

Foot & Ankle Celebrates 20 Years and Local Community Across Thurston County

Small businesses come and go, which is why reaching milestones is such an exciting accomplishment. “Our roots are here in Thurston County, and now that we have expanded from Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater to Centralia and Tacoma, we can help patients from all over,” shares Jayden Gilmore, marketing manager for Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates. “We have patients coming from as far as Shelton, Aberdeen, and Mossyrock, so the reach we have is a testament to the care we provide for patients no matter where you live. Our patients are willing to travel because we provide good quality care and have special treatments and services that aren’t provided in those areas.”

FASA continues to find ways to support community and bring people together. In 2022, they participated in Lakefair to connect and provide education about community health. They love being able to start the conversation about feet and overall health, especially since the foot is often overlooked, until something happens. With their booth, people were able to come up and ask questions in a casual setting. Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates is looking to participate in more events like this to get out in the community as a resource for everyone. They also proudly sponsored the annual Oly on Ice event to promote festive family activities right here in Olympia.

“We are getting more out of the pandemic and getting back to normal,” shares Jayden. “it has been a challenging last few years for everyone. It is so important to take care of your physical, mental, and emotional health, so we wanted to make sure we are here for the community. That is the reason we are out in the community with events and sponsorships, so we can help others live a happy, healthy life.”

Within each clinic, they take a holistic approach to health, which is why they also have full body physical therapy at their lacey and Tumwater locations, and look beyond the problem to ensure they are treating each patient based on their unique circumstances and needs. For the Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates team, happy feet mean happy health.

Find Happiness Through Health in 2023 with Foot & Ankle Surgical Associates

In the new year, it is common for people to evaluate their current lifestyle and commit to new habits for better health. FASA encourages people to find ways to stick with resolutions and healthy choices beyond New Year’s Day and to be smart about how they get started. “It is important to exercise, but be sure to start slow and listen to your body,” Jayden says. “It’s not a race, and you don’t want to hurt your body. Give your body extra time to recover and slowly build it up as you go.”

Most people jump in headfirst and risk sustaining an injury, so by taking it one step at a time, you can ensure success and avoid hurting yourself along the way. One of the best ways you can support your new healthy habits is by engaging emotional wellness strategies, as this largely impacts physical health and can be a determining factor in how well you are able to manage the stress of exercise.

As we move into spring, adults and youth alike are preparing for seasonal sports and outdoor activities. It is an exciting time when the sun finally comes back out and we can get moving outside again, but it is important to prepare for the full swing of summer by starting slow and getting a physical now. “Athletes especially start ramping up now, so make sure you are spring cleaning for your health too by taking care of things in March and April so you are ready to go when summer hits,” says Jayden.

FASA starts to see many common foot and ankle conditions around this time of year as people prepare for warmer weather and summer hobbies, especially as people break out the open-toed footwear. Bunions, ingrown toenails, fungal toenails, and hammer toe are all common conditions that your local FASA team can treat. Their experienced team of podiatrists can guide you through the best solution for your condition to help you quickly get back to your normal life.
