Martin Family Dog Park

While the Martin Family Dog Park is not big, it does allow for your dog to be off-leash safely! It’s a great place to walk your dog in Elma, whether you are staying at a hotel or heading on to the coast. They even provide pick-up bags for your convenience and a bench for you to relax on while your dog plays.

Gladys Smith/Lloyd Murrey Park

530 N 10th Street, Elma

Kids and dogs will have fun at this park! Gladys Smith/Lloyd Murrey Park is 10 acres and includes a large castle-like play structure, baseball, softball and soccer fields as well as picnic areas. Leashed dogs are welcome to cruise around the grass or walkways.

Vance Creek County Park

Wenzel Slough Road, Elma

You can also walk your dog in Elma at Vance Creek County Park. This park offers water access, including a kid-friendly swim area, public restrooms, fishing and picnic tables. Leashed dogs will enjoy exploring the walking trails.

Schafer State Park

1365 W Schafer Park Rd, Elma

Be sure to have a Discover Pass to take advantage of the trails at Schafer State Park for dog walking. Here, you can walk your dog along two miles of trails, just be sure to keep them leashed! You can also enjoy fishing, picnicking, swimming and more. This state park is open for day use during the winter.

Chehalis Wildlife Area Unit

Schouweiler Road, Elma

Just 2.5 miles southwest of Elma, take Schouweiler Road off Highway 12 to access the Chehalis Wildlife Area Unit. A Discover Pass is required for this area as well. There are ADA parking areas and restrooms. There are several trails, including an ADA access trail to an ADA hunting blind. Dogs must be on leash from April through July to protest sensitive wildlife and their habitats. The rest of the year, dogs need to be under control, whether on-leash or under voice command or other training device.

It’s always a good idea to bring your own water and pick up bags when you take your dog for a walk in Elma. Leaving dog-friendly parks clean and with no trace ensures dogs will continue to be welcomed on future visits.
