Checking out the sites in Aberdeen on the way to the Washington Coast is always a fun time. Whether you are a Nirvana fan, art appreciator or nature lover, there are unique stops that can only be seen in Aberdeen. Be sure to bring that camera, because there are many Instagram-worthy places where you can take selfies in Aberdeen.

Take Selfies at Art Murals in Aberdeen
Aberdeen has quite a few murals around town that are great for selfies. Check out the Kelp Forest mural on the Wishkah River Distillery building at the intersection of 200 S Broadway Street and E Wishkah Street.
Another fun one is titled “Bubbles” by Douglas C. Orr and can be found on E Wishkah Street at 205 S I Street. There is a parking lot below it where you can get a close-up photo, or, to get the entire mural in your shot, try a photo from down Wishkah. Before leaving, look over across the street for “The Immigrants” mural by Jenny Fisher. It’s a great mural portraying a bit of history on where Grays Harbor inhabitants immigrated from.
Another fun history mural is “Ice Palace and Doughboy” by E.M. Viquesney and Dick Creevan at the corner of Park Street and Simpson Avenue. The image depicts a World War I doughboy statue and the Ice Palace site. And, if you want to get a selfie with one of the two World War I doughboy statues in Washington State, head to Zelasko Park (250 S F Street)!
Since murals are always changing, find more on the Our Aberdeen website.

Kurt Cobain Selfie Spot in Aberdeen
If you are a Nirvana fan, you won’t want to miss the chance to take a selfie in Aberdeen at the Kurt Cobain Memorial Park.
At the end of E 2nd Street, under the famous Young Street Bridge, where Kurt Cobain allegedly slept, you will find a large guitar memorial, along with other memorials. Graffiti from Cobain fans covers the underside of the bridge and even some of the signs. If you decide to get a selfie under the Young Street Bridge, be aware that it is slick and steep.
Another great selfie spot in Aberdeen for Cobain fans is in front of the “Welcome to Aberdeen” sign, which has one of Nirvana’s most famous lyrics, “Come as you are,” underneath it. Be careful when trying to get a photo at the sign, as the only place to “park” is pulling over to the shoulder of the highway.

Nature Selfie Spots in Aberdeen
