Dog-Friendly City Parks in Aberdeen

Spending the day seeing the sights in Aberdeen with your pup and he needs a break? No worries, Aberdeen has many parks in the city that are perfect for taking the dog out – more than any other in Grays Harbor County.

Looking for off-leash dog walking in Aberdeen? Head to Aberdeen’s dog park at Garley Park! Located at 1303 W Huntley Street, the dog park has separate areas for large and small dogs and both are ADA compliant.  Another trail to check out near here is the Lake Swano Trail – it has an easy .6-mile loop that is great for dog walking. Or, use that trail to connect to several others including the Alder Creek Trail, Nice Creek Trail, Poggie Trail and the Coastal Forest Trail.

If you want to find dog walks on the Chehalis River near me, choose Zelasko Park,  Morrison Riverfront Park, Sky Sweeps Park or Lions Park.  The 11-acre Morrison Riverfront Park has lovely views of the river, with paved walking trails. Sky Sweeps Park is known for its diverse landscape and is perfect for those looking for a stroll or a challenging hike. If you need a pick-me-up before or after your walk, stop by Rise and Grind Espresso just across from Sky Sweeps Park on SW Front Street. Zelasko is right off Wishkah, making it a convenient stop for those headed into town or through town.

Other dog-friendly parks in Aberdeen include Pioneer Park, Sam Benn Park, Finch Park and the famous Kurt Cobain Memorial Park. Sam Benn Park has 14 acres of trails while the Kurt Cobain Memorial Park is a small but memorable stop. Pioneer Park’s perks include a large gazebo and a playground. Included within Pioneer Park is the Basich Trailhead. This trail – known as the Cosi Trail locally – connects Aberdeen and Cosmopolis and is a great dog-walking trail. During the summer, Finch Park is a great choice for those with kids because of the splash pad. The dogs may even enjoy it on a hot day!

A little way south of downtown Aberdeen, almost to Cosmopolis, is Makarenko Park. People love the many walking trails this dog-friendly Aberdeen park has to offer.

Head north of out of Aberdeen to find Stewart’s Memorial Park, with large grassy areas, a rustic kitchen for picnicking and more. It has an easy 1-mile loop for dog walkers.
