Have a fuzzy lop that needs a groom? Maybe a bearded dragon that needs a nail trim? How about a parakeet that needs its flight feathers and beak trimmed? Of course, dogs and cats are also welcome at Tidy Pets, the pet grooming business in Grayland that serves a myriad of pets!
Owner Dominique Pripa decided to take her 15 years of grooming knowledge and start her own business in March 2024, right out of her own home. It wasn’t ideal, she says, but they made it work.
Her love of animals is something she has always had. “I volunteered in high school at our local animal shelter and fell in love with a schnauzer that I convinced my parents to bring home,” Dominique says. “I would groom him for fun in our bathroom. Out of high school, my first job was at Petco as a bather, and I knew from the start that I wanted to take the groomer program.”
Grooming became her passion. “I love being able to transform dogs and cats, whether it’s just by bathing them or giving them a full haircut. They reward me by just being their cute selves,” she says.
Since she became a groomer, the idea of owning her own place was a dream of hers. “I have always been an entrepreneur since a very young age,” she says. “I have a head for business and it has been something I’ve wanted for over 15 years.”
She sidelined that dream for another dream: raising and homeschooling her three boys. But, in the back of her mind, she knew she would return to grooming some day and when she did, she wanted it to be her own place.

Tidy Pets Moves to Grayland
And that’s just what she did after moving to Westport three years ago. “I decided to go back to work,” Dominique says, “and the perfect opportunity presented itself. With the support of my dear late father, I was able to start Tidy Pets Grooming.”
Now, just a year and a half later, they have moved into a brand-new location at 1628 SR 105 Suite B. “We moved so we could expand our business and have a more professional setting,” Dominque explains. She is ready to serve whatever pet you have.
And she means practically any pet! Tidy Pets Grooming in Grayland offers dog and cat clips, bathing, nail trims, and other treatments, including the popular deshedding treatment. They also offer grooming for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, birds and reptiles. Services offered depend on the species. “When I first learned to groom at Petco, we would be asked to help take care of the small animals and birds and so I was able to gain this experience as well,” Dominique explains. “I did choose to take a cat grooming course as I love cats and surprisingly rarely have had many issues grooming them.”
Dominique helps make sure all pets that come into her grooming salon are comfortable. She does this through patience and the willingness to adapt her way of doing things if the pet is showing signs of stress or fear. “For instance, we use a forced air dryer, which some dogs do not like, and so we can towel dry them or kennel dry them with softer air,” she explains. “Another example is dogs who don’t like their nails done can be held by their owner, if that helps them, or maybe distracted with treats.”
She takes the time to learn about each pet to help them be as comfortable as possible. “I pay attention to detail and take pride in the way they look when they go home,” she adds.
Even more exciting, Tidy Pets Grooming will be adding a doggy day care to their building in March 2026! They are open by appointment only. To learn more, visit the Tidy Pets Grooming website.
