Since October 2022, the Quinault Wellness Center in Aberdeen has been a lifesaving resource for people in the Grays Harbor area. It, along with Quinault Community Health that opened August 2024, are open to anyone, with or without insurance. Recovery is not an island: it takes a strong support village. Join them in making a difference at their Race for Recovery, June 27, 2026, at Morrison Riverfront Park.

“Anyone is welcome to attend even if they are not involved in the race,” shares Coleen Chapin, clinical director at Quinault Wellness Center. “This is a free event to attend. The only cost is the race registration if you are racing for prizes and shirts.” Pre-register now for the race to get your free t-shirt!

Why Support Grays Harbor’s Quinault Wellness Center

This is the fourth annual Race for Recovery that Quinault Wellness Center has put on. Coleen says it’s an important part of their mission to reduce stigma in the community about addiction treatment and recovery. According to her, they started the race to “educate, celebrate and network with partners in Grays Harbor for the good of our community members and their families reaching out for treatment and resources that help support people in recovery.”

Proceeds of the race go towards a patient services account, which helps patients meet needs that are not otherwise available in the community. “[The funds] assist patients with social and health needs that are not covered through any other program or when funding is not available through other programs i.e., prescription co-pay, food funds when funds are not available through Federal Food Assistance, if a patient is in need of some work items and no other funding is available,” Coleen explains. “Emergency needs when no other funding is available.  All funds are distributed on a case-by-case basis, and when funding is available.”

The event also helps those in recovery to see how much the community and families support their journey.

If you would like to donate but cannot attend, you can call 564.544.1957 or 564.544.1964 and speak to Natasha or Jordan.

“Recovery doesn’t happen in a vacuum, which is why we prioritize transportation, childcare and primary health alongside addiction treatment,” says Coleen. “In collaboration with our local social service partners, we are working to ensure that a lack of resources never stands in the way of a person’s path to wellness here in the Harbor.”
