Charles and Jamie Wellington, a husband-and-wife team, started Storytime Playroom to bring a fresh new kids’ activity to the Grays Harbor area. As a family-owned business, they are “dedicated to creating fun, safe, and memorable play spaces for young children,” says Jamie.

“We wanted to bring a fresh, engaging, and stress-free entertainment option to families and events in our local community,” says Jamie about why they started Storytime Playroom, which started taking bookings in July 2026. “As parents, we know how tough it can be to keep toddlers and young kids safely entertained during parties, so we wanted to build a business that makes life easier for parents while creating magical experiences for little ones.”
Jamie and Charles saw a need in the area for fun, fresh party rentals, especially for young children, and decided they were the perfect duo to fill the gap! These rentals are specifically designed for early childhood, shares Jamie, primarily for crawlers and toddlers up to age 5. “Soft play setups have become wildly popular for birthdays and community gatherings, and we knew Grays Harbor families deserved to have this wonderful service locally!” she adds.
The rentals are fully customized, cushioned play “parks” that the Wellingtons bring directly to your event location, set up, and then return to clean and pack up when your event is over. “It includes high-quality foam climbing blocks, soft slides, ball pits, building blocks, and ride-on toys set up on protective foam flooring,” Jamie says.
Rather than having one bounce house where bigger kids are competing for space, these rentals are great for creating a safe space for younger kids at your event. “It gives little ones a soft, safe space to climb, explore, and play at their own pace without having to worry about big kids running them over,” shares Jamie. “They give toddlers an age-appropriate, clean, and safe outlet to burn off energy while keeping them active and entertained for hours. It also allows parents to actually relax and socialize at the party, knowing their little ones are playing on safe, cushioned surfaces.”

And because all the play structures have a neutral color palette, they match any event’s theme and décor. “We love our clean, modern, neutral aesthetic because it seamlessly complements any event style or party theme!” explains Jamie. “While our foundational setups feature clean neutrals, we also offer additional colors, accent colors, and custom ball pit ball colors to match your specific event theme. We can even provide custom vinyl signage and branding options to tailor the setup to your exact vision.”
Their team is always on standby during your event. Should something happen, they are happy to assist in any way. And health and safety are paramount to them. “Safety and cleanliness are our absolute top priorities,” shares Jamie. “Every single piece of equipment is thoroughly disinfected and sanitized with child-safe, non-toxic products before and after every single event – we treat every setup as if our own children were playing in it!”
In the future, the couple is hoping to open an indoor playroom, where parents can come year-round with their kids for open play, birthday parties and more. “We saw a huge need for a venue like this locally, and we are so excited to build toward that dream starting with our mobile setups!” shares Jamie.
