Treat mom to the experience of a bygone era as our beautifully restored steam engine winds through the springtime forest and foothills south of Mount Rainier. Tickets for this two hour excursion include train ride, museum admission, and a gift for mom. Trains depart at 10:00 p.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Seating is limited. Advance reservations strongly suggested.
South Beach Arts Association will open That Summer Gallery every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from July 1 through Sept 25. Over 50 artists from the Harbor and surrounding communities will display and sell their artwork. During the summer, there will be special weekends at the gallery. July 1–4 will feature artwork from grade school students who participated in the Fine Arts portion of the After School Program at Ocosta School. Members of the SBAA took turns teaching an art medium each month. The following is a schedule of other special weekends to look forward to this summer at the gallery:
- July 9–10: Garden art and plant sale
- Aug. 6–7: Join us for a collaborative urban art project.
- Aug. 27: Silk scarf painting demonstration with Kristi Beitzel
- Sept 24–25: Fall Out with the miniature art exhibit.

In addition to the popular Poker Paddle, activities will include 2 or 6-mile human-powered boat races, rubber duck pond and race for the kids, a cardboard boat race, Quinault Paddle Exhibition, speakers, vendors, skills demonstrations and a Music Festival just across the way in our beautiful new grassy Amphitheater. The FOSLS LAKE SYLVIA STATE PARK FALL FESTIVAL continues the tradition for our 12th year!
Come join us on SUNDAY, September 10th, 2023 from 8:30 – 4:00 for a day filled with fun and family activities.
If you enjoy running we have trail Races that begin at 8:30 am. From 10 – 4, you can find one of a kind art and hand crafted treasures at the Artisans Market and eat delicious food while enjoying great live music by talented local acts all on the peaceful shores of beautiful Lake Sylvia. There will also be a kayak paddling adventure, a Watershed Festival by the GH Stream Team, Galaxy Harbor Dancers and educational exhibits in the Legacy Pavilion. You can decorate a pumpkin or take a group photo in our photo booth and we will have kids activities as well.
Park for free at Simpson School (519 Simpson Ave W, Montesano WA), and take a free shuttle to the Festival. Parking inside the park is limited and requires a Discover Pass.
