This calendar is the place to find fun events happening throughout Grays Harbor County including Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Westport, Ocean Shores, Elma, Montesano and beyond.
A get together of local history and memorabilia. Hotel Emerson was opened in April 1924 and will be 93years old on the 30th of the month. Stop in and tour the lobby and what is now the Hoquiam Senior Center, which was a part of original hotel building.
Several local buildings will be represented at this event.
To date the following have made a commitment to attend and share the time relating stories of the buildings and history of Hoquiam events.
Their will also be several Hoquiam Memorabilia Collectors attending and sharing stories and their memorabilia of local historic events. Bring your stories and memorabilia and share. Please contact me if you would like to participate.

At Maker Fun Factory, kids discover that God made them—and for a purpose! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, learn Bible Memory to remind them of God’s love, and test out Science-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with the FunShop Finale that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.

Join us for an evening of impact as we raise awareness on the delicate subject of child sex trafficking. Expert speaker, Dr. Cyndi Romine (founder of Called To Rescue) will teach prevention, share facts & statistics, and help attendees understand the truths of what is happening throughout WA and the world. There will also be a clam dig that will begin around 5:30 p.m., but then come on back once you’ve gotten your 15 clams so you can warm up and enjoy a Karaoke Contest with $1000 in prize money! 1st place will receive a $500 prize, 2nd place will receive $350, and 3rd place will receive $150. The first 40 people to sign up and pay the $25 entry fee will be entered into the contest which will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank you notes and summer camp postcards. Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters through the boarding school and college years, where Andy goes on to excel at Yale and law school, while Melissa flunks out of a series of “good schools.” While Andy if off at war, Melissa marries, but her attachment to Andy remains strong and she continues to keep in touch as he marries, becomes a successful attorney, gets involved in politics and eventually is elected to the U.S. Senate. Meanwhile, her marriage in tatters, Melissa dabbles in art and gigolos, drinks more than she should and becomes estranged from her children. Eventually she and Andy do become involved in a brief affair, but it is too late for both of them. However, Andy’s last letter, written to her mother after Melissa’s untimely death, makes it eloquently clear how much they really meant and gave to each other over the years; physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.
Performance dates: Every Friday and Saturday evening with curtain time at 7:30. Each weekend features a different cast.

Education, workforce training, and other services may or may not be available where you live. If they are—then are they working for you? Effective policy for rural regions can only be informed by the “lived in” experience of people in those communities. That’s the purpose behind this Rural Community Vitality Forum in Aberdeen that asks the local community what’s working, and what’s not. Tell us your story, give us your perspective, and help shape solutions. This will be a facilitated but free-flowing discussion, so come prepared to participate.

This rural “listening tour” is brought to you by the state’s Workforce Board, which helps convene and oversee the state’s workforce system. An economist from the Workforce Board will provide a snapshot of the local economy. Then a facilitator funded by the U.S. Department of Labor will help us capture your comments and frame next steps. Once the comments are compiled you’ll have a chance to provide input before a report is provided to state and federal policymakers. This is your chance to be heard, and make a difference where you live.
