With spring in full swing, and flowers blooming around every corner, you may be thinking of sprucing up your own garden. Perhaps you are looking to add flowering plants to your landscape, infuse a bit of charm with a fairy garden, start a vegetable patch, or even install a koi pond.
These six local nurseries have everything you could need, and a few things you might not expect. We are fortunate in Grays Harbor to have dozens of plant nurseries, and these are just a few to get you started on your gardening journey.
1. The Pond Place
With the largest selection of aquatic plants in Southwest Washington, The Pond Place is a must-see. In business for 28 years, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. To protect their fish, no herbicides or pesticides are used at their facility, and they are passionate about finding new and more organic ways to nurture and support their plants. Offering everything from lily pads to koi, filtration systems to berry bushes, The Pond Place has a unique niche in our community. They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at 2209 Simpson Avenue in Hoquiam.
2. Marshall’s Garden and Pet
At the corner of State and I streets in Aberdeen, Marshall’s Garden and Pet is a downtown icon. The long-standing suppliers of all things garden and pet related have unparalleled knowledge in the area. Marshall’s not only has seeds, indoor and outdoor plants, trees, herbs, fertilizers and gardening supplies and literature, they also offer an extensive selection of pet supplies. Their charming green building is as welcoming as their staff, so be sure to visit. Marshall’s is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00a.m. – 5:30 p.m. They are located at 319 S I Street in Aberdeen. Look for the big green building.
3. Juel’s Unique Nursery
Juel’s Unique Nursery is a stunning array of fruit trees, vegetable plants, succulents, flowers, greenhouses, and various other greenery on a hilltop along East Satsop Road. Juel’s is offering a great selection of u-pick veggies this year. The nursery also features a lovely display fairy garden and sells fairy garden items as well. Stopping here is essential for any gardener looking for one of a kind variety. Until October, Juel’s is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at 350 E Satsop Road in Elma. 4. Satsop Bulb Farm
Now is the time to stop by the Satsop Bulb Farm for absolutely beautiful flowers. Through May 15, the family farm is open from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily and offers not only flowers, but gorgeous annuals, herbs, and vegetable plants for your garden. They specialize in daffodils and tulips, and if you miss the flowers this spring, be sure to stop by in the fall for bulbs. The Satsop Bulb Farm is located at 930 Monte Elma Road in Elma.
5. Garden Starts Nursery
This is the place to go for your plant and vegetable starters, and hanging baskets. The small family business prides itself on uniqueness and quality. Garden Starts Nursery starts begin at the unbeatable price of $1.00. In their greenhouses, you will find neat items such as the world’s smallest tomato plant, and their own handmade lawn decorations. You will be hard-pressed to find hanging baskets as beautiful and well-planned for such reasonable prices. Additionally, Garden Starts supports their business by offering a massive variety of seeds worldwide through eBay. Through June, Garden Starts Nursery is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. They are located at 20 Rosemary Lane S in Elma.
6. Lily Lane Farm
You may have noticed this gem while driving down Highway 105 on the way to Westport. Lily Lane Farm is exactly what it sounds like and more. Specializing in daylilies, Monte and Loni Hooper grow over 200 varieties of these hardy beauties including some of their very own hybrids. They also sell various unique plants, veggies, fresh eggs from their chickens, and even antiques. They are open Thursdays through Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through early September. Be sure not to miss their Daylily Days on July 16-17. The farm is located at 6 John Wayne Lane between Aberdeen and Westport.
7. Satsop Landscaping and Nursery
Satsop Landscaping and Nursery offers everything from annuals, perennials and vegetable starts to berries, fruit trees and a large variety of landscape trees and shrubs.
