Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI), the regional Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council, works to cultivate the necessary conditions for business success and community prosperity in Grays Harbor. Celebrating and recognizing the many successful businesses and organizations in the County is one of their annual traditions that takes place each year during the Leaders Banquet and Recognition Awards, held each fall at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino. At the 2019 banquet, Timberland Bank was awarded with the honor of Large Business of the Year.

Because Timberland Bank reinvests in what they value, they are able to provide hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to support local charities and serve needs that help strengthen the communities that they care about and call home. Mike Sand, President and CEO of Timberland Bank, recently explained to South Sound Business how Grays Harbor is where their roots are, and that they try to do as much business in the County as possible. The fact that they’ve branched out into other counties and grown the bank significantly allows room for more resources in terms of people and the ability to give back to communities.

Over the course of summer 2019, Timberland Bank organized a group of volunteers to work with the American Red Cross and the City of Hoquiam to install free smoke detectors in homes throughout Hoquiam. The bank also partnered with Habitat for Humanity at the Habitat House in South Aberdeen multiple times during the year. Their volunteers installed siding and framing as well as painted the interior later in the year.

“Timberland Bank has been avid supporters of the Grays Harbor community for over 100 years,” states Dru Garson, GGHI CEO. “All of us at GGHI are honored to have awarded them with Large Business of the Year.”
