All are invited to attend Summit Pacific Medical Center’s second Community Barbecue and first Wellness Celebration Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 p.m. It is a great opportunity to get out of the house for an evening walk around the new Health and Wellness Trail, have fun with outdoor games and activities, visit booths along the trail, enter to win prizes, collect giveaways and wrap up the night with Chef Brandon’s famous barbecue for dinner!

“Summit Pacific Health and Wellness Trail is now open to the public and ready for use! We are excited to provide a healthy meal and fun activities to busy families and community members. This event is a fun way to get people using our trail and at the same time, let them know about some of the new and exciting services that are available to them,” said Lauren Day, Foundation Executive Director and Marketing and Community Relations Manager.

Upon arrival, visitors will be given a trail pass outlining all the booths and activities available for the evening. Guests will be encouraged to visit each booth along the trail to complete the Trail Pass, which they can then turn in for a free barbecue dinner and possibly a prize! Prizes for completing a “Trail Pass” include chances to win a Fitbit, $50 Amazon gift card, free lunches to Café Salute, wellness packs and more. The booths will also feature activities such as hula hooping, ring toss, a hoop shoot, the Operation board game, and a building challenge! If you complete the games successfully you will be awarded with additional entries to drawings for prizes!

The new health and wellness trail is a third of a mile in length, five feet wide, wheelchair accessible and paved so it can be utilized year-round. The trail was made possible by funds raised at the 2015 Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by Summit Pacific Medical Foundation. In the future, the trail will also be equipped with benches and other attractions. Summit Pacific encourages members of the community to use the trail to accomplish their own health and wellness goals.

In addition to building the new trail, Summit Pacific has accomplished a great deal this past year. They kicked off the year with adding a weekend urgent care clinic, that clinic now operates 7 days a week. Most recently, Summit Pacific has finalized plans to be able to have inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy available to the community within the medical center. In between those two goals, they have also started up a new employee health and wellness program, an anticoagulation clinic, are bringing back the county-wide health fair, and they are in the middle of constructing a brand new healthcare clinic to open in McCleary early next year.
