Take your composting indoors this winter! Learn about worm composting in this hands-on session with WSU Extension faculty member Chris Koehler. You will learn how to care for red wigglers, and examine living compost through a microscope. Take home educational literature and a worm mini-bin (while supplies last). Please bring gardening gloves. All other materials will be provided.

Grays Harbor’s two tall ships return to their home port of Aberdeen for public tours and sailings before heading to California for their 2014-2015 tour of Golden State ports. Hawaiian Chieftain arrives at Seaport Landing on Sept. 4 for brief stay through Sept. 7. In addition to making final preparations for California, she’ll offer public tours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as public Adventure Sails at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7. Tickets are $43 all ages.
Lady Washington arrives at Seaport Landing Sept. 16 for a 17-day stay in Grays Harbor, including two days at Westport Sept. 27-28. During her time at Seaport Landing, crews on Lady Washington will conduct routine maintenance and offer public tours and excursions. The ship is open for tours Tuesday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Here’s the excursion schedule:

This program is part of Timberland Reads Together, Timberland Regional Library’s one book-one community reading initiative for 2014.
Every Thursday in October from 2 to 4 p.m., share your love of knitting, or simply come learn knitting basics. Yarn provided for new knitters, but please bring needles.
Join in a discussion with WSU Extension experts on making healthy food choices. Share wisdom about eating fresh, local foods & bring recipes to share. This program is part of Timberland Reads Together, Timberland Regional Library’s one book-one community reading initiative for 2014.

The concepts and skills taught in the training are easily transferable and designed to improve communication and enhance relationships in all settings.
Space for this training is still available. Training starts Thursday, May 1 and continues through Sunday, May 4. If you cannot make it to this training, another training is available May 8-10. Click here for more information.
