7th Street Kids presents Honk!, a musical rendition of “The Ugly Duckling.”
7th Street Kids presented Honk! Jr in the summer of 2004 and is excited to present the full version of this delightful and witty “Poultry Tale” this summer.
Come to the 7th Street Theater and join Ugly on his quest to find out where an odd duck belongs and what it means to be different. HONK!
Tickets are on sale at Harbor Drug, Rosevear’s, and online at Brown Paper Tickets. They are also available at the theater box office one hour before each performance.
Blood donors are invited to make reservations for Westport Winery’s next Bella Blood Drive and join the Roberts family as they give the gift of life. The winery will accept reservations for up to three donors every 15 minutes during this timeframe. Free refreshments will be provided to donors. Hoquiam businesses are celebrating spring with the “First Thursdays” events continuing into 2014. The result of the event, now in its third year, has been increased foot traffic in downtown, a spike in sales for local businesses, join participating businesses every First Thursday from May through September and enjoy special deals, food, music and local art.

Immerse yourself in the world of steampunk crafts, activities and music. Add metallic parts like watch gears to hats and necklaces; make temporary tattoos and play quirky Victorian parlor games, all to a background of steampunk images and rock music. Bring a favorite stuffed animal toy for a sleepover at the library. After an evening of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games, we’ll tuck the animals in and say goodnight. Come back the next day to pick up your friend and find out what mischief the animals got into during the night! Calling all lovers of the night sky. Join in a session of fascinating astronomy activities. Use glow-in-the-dark paint to create your own star chart for tracking the constellations, discover your star sign, make an astrolabe, simulate a black hole, and make a miniature simulation of the expansion of the universe. This event is part of Summer Reading, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.
The Oakville Timberland Library, in partnership with the City of Oakville and the Chehalis Tribe, present a six-week series of programs on creating a healthy lifestyle. This week’s event is Seasonal Canning.
Mary Sanders will present an introduction to canning and offer tips for preserving fresh foods. Particiants will receive samples to take home.
The Action Committee for Tourism (ACT) and the business’ of Ocean Shores combine to present the “Paddle-A-Thon.” This event combines the fun and excitement of Human Powered Boat Races, Poker Paddle, and Wacky Boat Races.
Those interested in Human Powered Boat Races may begin registration at 9:00 a.m., with the first 6-mile race scheduled at 10:00 a.m. All participants are required to pay a $5.00 insurance fee and provide their own life jackets and whistle for safety. A 2-mile race will be held at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Poker Paddle at 12:30 p.m. and a final “Wacky Race” at 3:00 p.m.
There will be canoes, tandem and single kayaks available for rent provided by Doug of Waterway Adventures.
There will be delicious food supplied by the Lions or you may bring your own picnic basket. Other picnic fare will be available and sold by area vendors. Prizes and surprises abound.
For a fun day and a great way to say farewell to summer, don’t miss this event.
Bring the family to Westport and celebrate their 68th annual Seafood Festival and Craft Show. Westport seafood pro’s will be cooking up salmon, whitefish and oysters, plus shrimp cocktails, corn on the cob, salads and garlic bread. Want just a bite? Enjoy a hot dog or clam chowder. Beer or wine also available.
Horses Cut Shop presents a Northwest Timber Revival. This day-long, free to the public event features live music, a beer garden, vintage logging demonstrations and graphic t-shirts representing local, iconic timber industry brands. Sponsored by Filson, Stihl and Stanley, all profits from the Timber Revival event go to support the Natural Resources – Forestry Technician Program at nearby Grays Harbor College which serves the coastal communities of western Washington state. This two year applied associate degree program provides students with the skills needed to secure jobs in the modern-day timber industry.
