The Grays Harbor County Fair runs August 9-13, 2017 in Elma. Promising great food, fun, animals and entertainment. Appearing Wednesday, Aug. 9th on the Pepsi Stage is Old Dominion. Thursday, Aug. 10th is the Coats, Seattle’s premiere a capella group. Saturday, Aug. 12 check out the Car Races followed by Petty Fever, one of the nation’s top Tom Petty Tribute Bands. Daily entertainment includes Davis Carnival rides, the comedy and magic of Steve the Pretty Good, Muriel’s Petting Zoo, and A Walk on the Wild Side animal display. Plus local entertainment such as the Olson Brothers, Fair Talent Show, Cheerleading Exhibitions and more! Check the website for details.

All-Hyak School Reunion – Moclips High School / North Beach High School @ Quinault Beach Resort and Casino

August 11 and 12, 2017 have been selected as the dates for the reunion for graduates of Moclips and North Beach High Schools. The reunion is held every three years, and is open to all graduates of the school’s 93-year history.
The reunion kicks off with a meet-and-greet Mexican fiesta on the 11th at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino beginning at 6 PM.
Saturday the events begin with an 11 AM bowling event at the Ocean Shores Bowl, followed by a prime rib dinner Saturday night at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino beginning at 5:30 PM and ending with a bonfire on the beach after the dinner.
The bowling party is open to all ages, with the evening events open to ages 21 and over only.

Boards in Gear Training @ Greys Harbor College

This interactive, hands-on workshop will cover board responsibilities, operations, development, fundraising, and advocacy. It is based on the Boards in Gear resources developed in partnership with some of our state’s leading board experts. You will leave with concrete action steps, tools, and connections.

This workshop is designed for board members and the people who work with them, namely executive directors and program staff. It offers ideas for new board members and those who have served for a long time. It is appropriate for organizations of all sizes, whether they have staff or not.

State of the Watershed: A Report Card for the Chehalis River @ Swede Hall

This session will be the capstone event for “Learnings from the Chehalis.” Over the past 15 years, community volunteers, citizens, and government agencies have been putting effort in to making the Chehalis River clean and healthy for people, fish and wildlife. How well have we done? This session will look at progress made on water quality improvement, salmon habitat restoration, water conservation, and the impacts of regulations and policies.

Our capstone talk will be held by a panel from the Chehalis Basin Partnership. The Chehalis Basin Partnership was formed in 1998 to provide a framework for local citizens, interest groups, and government organizations to work collaboratively to identify and solve water-related issues.
