Toxic Algae Caution Advisory for Vance Creek Ponds

Submitted by Grays Harbor County Emergency Management

Grays Harbor County is advising all residents of the discovery of a toxic algae bloom in Vance Creek Pond #2 (Lake Inez) in Elma. Bowers Lake is not affected at this time.  Please see the information below on the dangers of swimming, drinking and fishing at this area. Warning signs are being posted at Vance Creek Pond #2.

Avoid areas with algae in the Vance Creek Ponds.  Grays Harbor County Environmental Health confirmed the presence of a cyanobacteria bloom in Pond #2.

When you see algae, don’t swim, wade, paddleboard or fish.  Keep in mind as wind direction changes, the algae could move elsewhere in the lake.

When in doubt, stay out!
