Submitted by Washington State Department of Transportation
Drivers will notice new speed limit signs on State Route 107 just south of Montesano in Grays Harbor County beginning the week of April 29.
The Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily reduce the speed limit from 40 mph to 25 mph between milepost 6.9 and milepost 7.1 in advance of an upcoming project. The speed limit reduction is located in a work zone where crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation are beginning efforts to rehabilitate the 58-year-old SR 107 Chehalis River Bridge by replacing the timber located on the south end of the approach, installing modern safety rails and painting the entire steel structure.
The reduced speed limit will remain in place during work hours through project completion. The rehabilitated crossing is expected to be complete by winter 2020. The lowered speed limit is enforceable when the signs are posted.
