Historian Lorraine McConaghy will begin the program with an illustrated introduction to the war’s themes. Following that, guests may participate in a scripted “Readers’ Theater,” designed to portray the turmoil of the years 1914 – 1919. The script is drawn from first-person sources such as letters, diaries and news paper stories. It allows modern readers to speak aloud the words of a past generation, and gain an sense of how Washingtonians of that era experienced the great social, economic and political changes: industrialization, immigration, women’s rights, radical labor, epidemic disease, and worldwide turmoil.
Join us as we salute Arnold Samuels, a local legend, and meet his biographer, John C. Hughes, chief historian for the Office of the Secretary of State.
Samuels’ remarkable Army service during WWII found him serving in Counter Intelligence Corps, helping liberate the horrific concentration camp at Dachau and working with another young Jewish G.I., Henry Kissinger. Arnold Samuels is also the only person ever elected to the Ocean Shores City Council as a write-in.

Local artist and teacher Erik Sandgren will present a talk and slide show, “Harbor Artists: A Legacy.”
The presentation will include the work of Alexander Calder, Robert Motherwell, Lance Wood Hart, Lee Friedlander and the Runquist brothers, Albert and Arthur. A discussion of artistic intent and influence will follow the slide presentation.
The Grays Harbor 4-H Horse Council Horse Show and Clinic is free and open to the public.

Four fun days of racing with QMA! QMA is a family oriented sport that involves racing in special prepared cars. The cars, rules and safety procedures are designed specifically for kids. They race on oval tracks approximately 1/20 of a mile. A child who is 5 to 16 years of age can race.

Here’s a great opportunity to play golf, mingle with and dine with some amazing NFL and Collegiate celebrities at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino.
Guests include: Dick Vermeil, Dana LeDuc, Charlie McShane, Howard Mudd. Over 16 Super Bowl Titles in all. Proceeds will benefit the Grays Harbor Youth Football Camp.
Some of the top riders in the world will be in Grayland Washington throwing down some amazing aerial maneuvers. Back flips, barrel rolls, precision surf riding and moto surf racing are just some of what you can expect to see all weekend.
There will be food to feast on. Music will be playing and if you buy a few raffle tickets, you might just get some goodies to take home with you. Bring your family a lawn chair and a camera and enjoy some free entertainment at the beach.
Attention paddling, rowing, SUP and water sports enthusiasts. All human-powered water craft are invited to a fun-filled day on the beautiful canals of Ocean Shores Washington.
In addition to the popular Poker Paddle, activities will include 2 or 6-mile human-powered boat races, rubber duck pond and race for the kids, a cardboard boat race, Quinault Paddle Exhibition, speakers, vendors, skills demonstrations and a Music Festival just across the way in our beautiful new grassy Amphitheater.
