Enjoy a week of razor clam digging! Diggers ages 15 and older must have a current 2014-2015 fishing license to harvest razor clams on state beaches. If you would like to participate in the dig, you can purchase a license online, here, and from license vendors around the state.

Under state law, diggers can take 15 razor clams per day and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.

If you like Dungeness Crab fishing and LOVE Dungeness Crab, come and try your luck at the 11th Annual Crab Derby hosted by Westport’s very own local Commercial Dungeness Crab Fishermen’s Association. Fish for Jumbo Ocean sized crab harvested in the Pacific Ocean by the Pro’s and seeded into the Westport Marina Basin just for you to catch! 10 cash derby prizes up for grabs-top derby prize is $500!
Come join the family fun with face painting, food, cash and prize raffle drawings both derby days, come meet & greet real Commercial Crab Fishermen, see Commercial Fishing Industry demonstrations and More…
You won’t want to miss your chance to Race a Dungeness Crab and sit down to a fine feast of fresh locally caught crab with all the fixings April 19 in the BIG white tent across from the Derby Booth at the Annual Crab races. Anyone who loves Seafood and being at the Beach will not want to miss this Event!
Derby Tickets $5 per person, Crab Dinners $28 full/$18 half
All Derby participants must supply their own fishing gear. Bait will available for $5 per bag

Are you interested in learning how to dig clams? We will have local professionals out on the beach on Saturday and Sunday morning giving lessons on the beach off of the Bolstad Beach Approach Pavillion. You MUST pre-register and provide YOUR OWN:

• clamming license
• shovel or clam gun for digging
• bucket or net to keep your clams separate from others’ limits

Please dress for the conditions:  coats or jackets, hats, rain gear, etc. (see image below for reference)

Salty Saturday Project Party @ Historic Seaport

Come one come all.  Seaport Landing, Aberdeen’s new public waterfront and home port for the tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, is asking members of the Grays Harbor community to volunteer their time to prepare Lady Washington’s home for her 25th birthday celebration.

The Historical Seaport “Salty Saturday” Project Parties are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from now through May in preparation for our ships return on June 5th.  Salty Saturday projects are flexible and can accommodate individuals, groups or organizations.  Minors over 12 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our first Salty Saturday is scheduled for Saturday, March 1.

Inside and outside projects are available.  A Seaport Landing staff member will help volunteers find an appropriate project. Volunteers should dress warmly, even for indoor projects.  Volunteers interested in helping with gardening and landscaping should bring their own garden tools.

The shiny, newer replica of the original “World’s Largest Fry Pan” Clam Pan will be used for a clam fritter cook-off by the Ilwaco High School Culinary Arts Program students. Four celebrity chefs – Brock Johnson,Dahlia Lounge, Adrienne Chamberlain, Etta’s, Dezi Bonow, Palace Kitchen, and Liam Spence, Lola – from Tom Douglas restaurants in Seattle will be the judges.

Grays Harbor Audubon SocietyGrays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, and the City of Hoquiam work with a host of other local sponsors to bring you the Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival.

This event is timed to match the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of shorebirds as they pause at the Grays Harbor estuary to feed and rest before departing for their nesting grounds in the Arctic.

This wildlife spectacle happens every year at Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge and other parts of Grays Harbor County.

People from around the world come to view this event of hemispheric importance. The Shorebird Festival works to bring people together for this incredible natural phenomenon.

A portion of revenues in excess of festival expenses helps to fund education programs and scientific research at Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge and helps pay for continuation of construction of the boardwalk, benches and signage.
