The next classic film scheduled for the historic 7^th Street Theatre in downtown Hoquiam offers a double-double whammy of two film noir icons behind the camera and fascinating on-screen portrayals of a pair of “Strangers on a Train” The 1951 film will have showings at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5 and 6.

Iconic detective fiction writer Raymond Chandler teamed with director Alfred Hitchcock in the story of two “Strangers on a Train,” who become involved in murder and betrayal. Farley Granger and Robert Walker are the two baddies.

Although not as famous as many of Hitchcock’s films, “Strangers” is nonetheless revered as one of his very best and most unusual efforts. A fan review calls it “his most riotous, unrestrained film, a gleeful mélange of vicious black comedy, exciting suspense, mocking manipulation, and astonishing flights of fancy.”

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. showings. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. Climb aboard living history with a steam train ride through the forest and foothills south of Mt. Rainier. Children have a chance to hunt for eggs filled with treats from the Easter Bunny. Tickets include round trip train ride, egg hunt for the kids and museum admission. The Bunny Express fills up fast, so hop to it and reserve your tickets early. And parents—don’t forget to bring your camera and something to gather eggs in! Rain or shine, trains depart at 10:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Kids Day will include; Mechanical bull rides for all kids ages 16 and under, Bouncy Houses, Balloon art by Professor Bamboozle, face painting, gold mining, trike races, steer roping, and kids can make their own “saddle bag snacks” to take with them, and games. This is also a great time to get your kids signed up for the stick horse races during the rodeo. The first 200 kids, under 10 years old will take home their very own stick horse after the races. Bring your cell phone or camera for photo opportunities!
