The Holiday Market is one of SBAA’s major fundraisers for the year.  It helps SBAA pay for free classes we offer the coastal community as well as helping us keep our workshops affordable by supplementing supplies and materials.

Jinglelights is a dazzling outdoor, Christmas lights show located in Central Park. Each show lasts 40 minutes and includes 140,000 lights synchronized to cheerful, holiday music. Hot coco and a campfire are usually available for visitors. The show is a fundraiser for the local “Shop with a Cop” program with a donation can on site. The show begins on December 2 and runs through December 27. Community members can enjoy this lively event any night of the week, except Mondays and Tuesdays. In this brand new holiday show The Science of Santa, Doktor Kaboom works from the assumption that science and magic are the same thing, and declares Mr. Claus the world’s greatest scientist! Following this theory, the good Doktor attempts to recreate all of Santa’s wonders.

Celebrate the holiday season with us and with local, Grays Harbor favorites, Ericka and Mattaniah Corban, otherwise known as Butler and the Maid. We will also have special guests, who will be announced at a later date. A holiday-themed cash bar will available.

The huge pop culture and marketing sensation that is the new “Star Wars” movie seems ripe for parody. Serial funnyman Mel Brooks had the same thought way back in 1986, when he developed the space opera send-up, “Spaceballs.” That is the first film showing in 2016 at the 7th Street Theatre in downtown Hoquiam, screening at 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16.

Released in 1987, “Spaceballs” stars Rick Moranis, John Candy and Bill Pullman, with ample screen time for Brooks. Forget the plot, as it exists only to provide multiple platforms for every kind of joke, jab, insult and other style of film reference, all aimed at sci-fi movies generally and the Star Wars films in particular.  As with all Mel Brooks films, the comedy comes fast and furious, with levels of taste, and/or lack thereof, to appeal to a wide range of non-serious movie-goers.

Two inventive businesses, and a very large dog, are hosting fundraisers for the Adopt-A-Pet dog shelter.

Off the Walls Gallery and Sadie Mae Hawkins have teamed up to create a crazy Valentine’s weekend event. Shop owner, Shelly Barnett, is setting up a Valentine-themed photo shoot area in her eclectic art store. Bring your own camera or cell phone and our volunteer photographers will take shots of you and Sadie Mae together. Participation is by donation of cash or bags of dog food.

Who is Sadie Mae Hawkins? Just the most famous dog in Shelton! A gigantic working Cane Corso service dog that just wants to spread love and happiness! Visit her Fan Club Facebook page and come to the gallery for a dog hug and photo.

When you are done there, head around the corner to Smoking Mo’s for their Pints for Pups program and some delicious food. Rent a 24-ounce beer mug for $5 and Mo’s will pass that $5 on to Adopt-A-Pet. Plus, you get an extra 8 ounces of beer with your normal pint purchase – so you get to drink like a Pirate for a good cause. And don’t miss their Tap Takeover with Lagunitas on Feb 24th with a dog food drive. Bring a bag of your favorite dog food and Mo’s will make sure it’s put to good use at Adopt-A-Pet.
