Enjoy an evening of football as the Bearcats go head-to-head against the SD Thunder. Gates open at 4 p.m.

The theme of the 2014 Ocean Shores Wearable Art Show is, “Force of Nature!” There are a limited number of entries available Artists and models must be 18 years of age or older. Wearable Art provides an entertaining event that allows artist of all media to show their creations in a wild fashion show venue.

Guests of all ages are invited to celebrate all things French as the farm’s 5,000 irises bloom.

This year the festival also includes a French style marketplace called Art In The Vines hosted by the Westport Art Festival serving as an exciting precursor to the annual Westport Art Festival in August.

Spend a fun-filled day in Ocean Shores. Watch over 60 floats and entries honoring Old Glory in one of the only Flag Day Parades in Western Washington.

Participating in the parade will be floats and marching bands from Ocean Shores and neighboring communities. Each year as a lead in to the Parade, ACT sponsors a Essay, Poster and Coloring Contest for the Children of the North Beach School District. Children in Pre-School and Kindergarten participate in a Flag Coloring Contest with prizes awarded to each age group.

Children in Grades 1 – 9 may participate in the Poster Contest, these will be judged and first, second and third Place winner for Boys and Girls will be selected. High School Students take part in an optional Essay Contest, this years theme is “What the Flag Means To Me”, the essays are judged and and a First and Second Place Boys and Girls winner is selected.

The winning students receive a check, a trip to Olympia, observation of the Senate in session a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor and a special lunch. Each year more than 150 students compete, the winning students will ride on the ACT float during the parade and the essay will be published in the Local Observer Newspaper.

Children love using color to create and learn. Families can have hands-on fun together creating new colors, sorting and matching objects, and playing around with colorful shapes. This event is part of Summer Reading, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.

Come aboard the Lady Washington and/or Hawaiian Chieftain for a self-guided tour of each ship. Crew will be on hand in period costume to answer questions and tell stories. A ticket is not required. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.

Our popular three-hour Battle Sails feature booming cannons, close-quarters maneuvers, and a taste of 18th century maritime life aboard tall ships. A ticket is required for all passengers, including babes in arms. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 8 or more automatically receive a 15 percent ticket discount when they buy online.

Our two-hour Evening Sail on the Lady Washington features a living history experience with demonstrations of tall ship handling, sea shanty singing, and maritime storytelling. A ticket is required for all passengers, including babes in arms. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

U is for Ukulele! The Harmonica Pocket brings the ABCs to life. Favorite nursery rhymes, beloved books and original songs are mixed up with playful skits to celebrate reading and the alphabet. Alex Zerbe’s zany new show, “Gravity Catastrophe,” demonstrates basic concepts of physics through the art of juggling. In his wacky way, Zerbe helps kids understand gravity, friction, center of mass and gyroscopic stability. Children will also discover the six simple machines and see the lever, inclined plane and the wheel and axle in action. This event is part of Summer Reading, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.
