Kelly Hogaboom of Bespoke Hogaboom (Aberdeen, WA) will be joined by Traci Kay Pryde of Pryde Hantverk (Graham, WA) to a Mending Lab in Hoquiam at ART HQx! Saturday June 18th!
They will be demonstrating jean and garment repair – you can bring YOUR item that needs to be mended or altered, and they will take a look! They will do as much mending as they can onsite, and they will also have resources to share about how to mend and care for your clothing for a more sustainable, cost-savings wardrobe.

Washington Sea Grant is sponsoring a one-day Sea Safety and Survival Course (Drill Instructor) for commercial fishermen and charter boat operators.
This Coast Guard-approved workshop meets the training requirements of the Commercial Fishing Safety Act to conduct drills. Coursework combines lecture and hands-on experience with the safety and survival equipment now required for commercial fishing vessels. Participants will learn about emergency procedures and be trained to develop appropriate emergency drills for their own vessels.
What to bring: deck boots, survival suit and a change of clothes.

Anatomy education is preventative care!
The best way to keep everyone safe and healthy is to make sure we all have the language to talk about our anatomy. Participants will deepen their knowledge of reproductive anatomy by making anatomy collages while they hear “the story of the egg” and “the story of the sperm.” We will offer a show and tell about period care products so that everyone knows their options and the pros and cons of various methods. Participants will leave the program equipped with the knowledge to better advocate and care for their bodies.

This event takes place at the Polson Museum.
To celebrate the reopening of the Polson Museum, join Museum Director John Larson and Hoquiam Librarian Katie Lutz with a discussion of what resources are available to the public for researching Grays Harbor history. Lutz and Larson will share their knowledge of online sites as well as those found in university, library and museum archives located regionally and beyond. Practical handouts will be provided at this museum open house event.

The Grays Harbor Genealogical Society will be hosting a Genealogy Café at the Hoquiam and Montesano libraries. Whether you’re new to genealogy or experienced, you’ll learn about local resources, as well as get individualized help using the library’s online resources and print materials. This free program is provided on a first come, first served basis, no registration is necessary. Drop-in anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sat., April 8th.

Do you like plants? Why not get something new for your plant collection? To celebrate Earth Day, we’re hosting a plant swap at the Hoquiam Timberland Library! Bring a cutting or small potted plant and pick up a new plant to take home. WSU Master Gardeners will be available to help identify plants, give advice on their care, and answer other plant questions. You can come by the library the week before and ask staff for a free pot to transport plants for the program, or transplant day-of.
Join us for a lesson in beginner bird-watching presented by the Grays Harbor Audubon Society. there will be stories and a hands-on binocular demonstration. All ages welcome!
On Saturday, the Audubon will be offering a guided bird-walk in Oakville. Details will be announced at the workshop!
