The Aberdeen Rotary Club has announced recipients of their Student of the Month award. Each year the Rotary Club of Aberdeen honors Aberdeen High School Seniors through the Student of the Month recognition and scholarship program. One senior is recognized each month October through May. Two of these eight students are then selected in June for either the $1,000 “Blue” or $2,000 “Gold” scholarship to the school of their choice.
Daniel Sipe is the October Student of the Month. KAHS radio station. He is interested in sound and broadcast Engineering and is enrolled in KAHS radio station. He has served as one of the main sound techs at Relay For Life of Grays Harbor. Daniel is involved in the yearbook, and Skills USA. He volunteers at Coastal Harvest, Harbor City Church, CASA auction, and Aberdeen Booster Club and was awarded the People Choice Award. He plans on going to Grays Harbor College for 2 years then transferring to another College or University. Daniel is the son of Scott and Connie Sipe.

Cathryn Paris is the November Student of the Month. Her interest is business management which began when she was chosen to be one of the CEOs for Business week. She has played volleyball for four years and received the coach’s award. She is one of the Drum Majors for the Aberdeen High School marching band and plays in both Marching band and Jazz band. Last year she received the Jud Graham Memorial award and the Kiwanis award for MVP in track.
After graduating Cathryn hopes to attend Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis and major in both business management and marketing. Cathryn ranks twelfth in her class and is the daughter of Christyna and JD Paris.

Cole Edwards is the December Student of the Month. Cole has maintained a 4.0 GPA during high school, while maintaining a busy schedule of athletics, community service and other extra-curricular activities. He coordinated the AHS American Red Cross Blood drive and is a member of the Renaissance Action Team and World Class Scholars. His list of awards this year reflect his activities:1st Team All-League Evergreen Conference Tennis, 1st Team All-League Evergreen Conference Baseball, Top Scholar Athlete, Tennis MVP and Most Inspirational, Baseball Coaches Award, Ken Waite Award, Jud Graham Award, Rotary Business Week Overall Best Company 2014. Cole’s post high school educational plans are to attend either Whitman College or WSU and to play baseball. He ranks fourth in his class. His parents are Kim and David Edwards.
