Grays Harbor College recently was notified that the year-old Eugene D. Schermer Instructional Building met standards to qualify for LEED Gold certification, as determined by the US Green Building Council. The building construction and design were cited for sustainability and awarded points that determined the certification.
The project achieved gold certification under the LEED 2009 New Construction and Major Renovations rating system with a total of 64 points.
Green Building Council President and CEO shared that the Schermer building was a “showcase example of sustainability and demonstrates your leadership in transforming the building industry.”
Grays Harbor College is committed to building a healthy, sustainable future for the community through utilizing green building in addition to other sustainable practices throughout the Aberdeen campus.
