We have a couple updates that will effect multiple, areas including East County.
High Wind Warning: The National Weather Service has upgraded the High Wind Watch to a High Wind Warning for the North and Central Coast in effect from Thursday 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Southerly wind 30 to 40 mph with gust up to 60 mph. The strongest winds will be along the beaches and near the shoreline of Grays Harbor. Our East County is currently in a High Wind Advisory status with predicted 30-35 mph sustained, 45 mph gusts and could change. The NWS states that this system will be similar to last Friday’s system that came through meaning it will be fairly quick but strong.
Coastal Flood Warning: The National Weather Service Seattle has just upgraded the Coastal Flood Watch to a Coastal Flood Warning. This warning will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday. They are predicting 1-3 ft inundation above high astronomical tides. This will affect areas such as: Westport, Ocean Shores, Moclips, Taholah, and low lying areas including Aberdeen and Hoquiam. Coastal flooding is likely for around 2-3 hours before and after the time of high tide (approximately 10:30ish). The National Weather Service states that significant beach erosion is possible.
High Surf Advisory: The High Surf Advisory is still in effect until 4:00 p.m. this afternoon with around 20 foot swells. They state the waves will decrease later this afternoon but will return tomorrow with about 20 foot waves in the morning, than increasing to 25 feet in the afternoon.
Grays Harbor County Emergency Management is monitoring the situation and will update you if anything changes.
