The FOSLS LAKE SYLVIA FALL FESTIVAL is back for its 11th year! Come join us this year on SUNDAY, September 18th from 8 am – 3 pm. We will be featuring Trail Races for all ages in the morning, a handcrafted Artists Market beginning at 9 am, Live Music, Food, a live Children’s Entertainer, Buck’s Bikes Bicycle Rentals, Vintage children’s games, Fish and Forest Education, a presentation on the history of Lake Sylvia and a Bird Watching presentation in our new Pavilion, and even a Kayak group Paddle. Two free shuttle buses will transport folks to the festival at regular 10 minute intervals. Rogue Wrestling Attractions has brought professional wrestling back to Grays Harbor! Harbor Havoc 3 will be hosted at the Ocean Shores Convention Center on November 9, 2022. The Southwest Washington Scholastic Chess Championships are set to be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 at Centralia College. Grays Harbor middle and high school students of all skill levels are invited to participate.
The high school championship will include both team and individual chess scoring. Being a Regional Championship, winning high school teams will qualify to play in the 57th annual Washington State High School Chess Team Championships, which will be held on March 3-4 at Stanwood High School.
In the past, high school teams would qualify for the state championship by winning their local high school chess league. Last March, regional qualifying tournaments were introduced to provide a direct path to the state championships for areas without a high school chess league, such as Grays Harbor County. Students wishing to play must reside in western Washington, south and west of King County.
Entry into the tournaments is free, courtesy of non-profits Washington High School Chess Association and Chess Enrichment Association. Advance registration is required.

The FOSLS LAKE SYLVIA STATE PARK FALL FESTIVAL continues the tradition for our 12th year!
Come join us on SUNDAY, September 10th, 2023 from 8:30 – 4:00 for a day filled with fun and family activities.
If you enjoy running we have trail Races that begin at 8:30 am. From 10 – 4, you can find one of a kind art and hand crafted treasures at the Artisans Market and eat delicious food while enjoying great live music by talented local acts all on the peaceful shores of beautiful Lake Sylvia. There will also be a kayak paddling adventure, a Watershed Festival by the GH Stream Team, Galaxy Harbor Dancers and educational exhibits in the Legacy Pavilion. You can decorate a pumpkin or take a group photo in our photo booth and we will have kids activities as well.
Park for free at Simpson School (519 Simpson Ave W, Montesano WA), and take a free shuttle to the Festival. Parking inside the park is limited and requires a Discover Pass. Reach the Beach Washington welcomes riders from across the PNW on September 30, 2023 to enjoy a fast and flat century ride starting in Lacey, WA and ending with a celebration on the beach in Westport, WA. Riders can choose distance options ranging from 25, 44, 77, or 100 miles.
This unique and challenging ride, is the signature event of the American Lung Association and supports our mission to prevent lung disease and help the millions of people who are affected by lung disease in the U.S.
Getting involved as a bike rider or as a fundraiser is a wonderful way to show your support for someone in your life who has been suffering with a lung disease or in memory of someone loss. Ride on your own or gather your family and friends to ride on a team together!

The 9th Annual Bigfoot Brewfest is a celebration of quality craft beer, ciders and other brews from around the Pacific Northwest, with an emphasis on flavors and adventure.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
Register your team of TWO today to play in the Bigfoot Cornhole Tournament! 1st place team wins a $500 gift certificate to Seabrook Hospitality. Only $20 to register your two-person team for this fun event! Registration and practice time will be 2:00-3:00 PM the day of the event. The tournament starts at 3 PM. Ticket sales for the cornhole tournament end at 3 PM the day of the event or Brackets until sold out, so pick your partner and mark your calendars! Westport’s famous Ocosta Booster Club Crab Feed is legendary! The 2024 extravaganza is Saturday, March 9 from noon to 6pm. This over-the-top fundraiser began in 1993. All proceeds benefit scholarships and programs for Ocosta School District students from Westport, Grayland, North Cove and Tokeland, Washington.
Westport, arguably Washington’s best beach community, is famous for many things. Yet, this annual event is one of the most popular drawing visitors from around the state to an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of Dungeness crab, cocktail sauce, spaghetti, garlic bread, and coleslaw. Beer, wine, cocktails, and sodas are sold separately.
Event organizers said, “Our generous fishing families donate over 3000 pounds of fresh local Dungeness Crab.” This level of community support with a cadre of volunteers make this event worth staying the weekend in Unforgettable Grays Harbor County.
All ages are invited to attend this epic dinner at the Ocosta Rec Hall located at 45 Ocosta 6th Street. Although this is an Aberdeen address, the rec hall is located between Westport and Aberdeen, just a few blocks off State Route 105.
Guests ages 13 and up can enjoy this feast for $40, it is $20 for those ages 6 to 12, kids age five and under are free. Tickets are available only at the door. The Booster Club accepts cash and credit cards.
