Old Cannery Park

5th Street Extension at Adams Street, Hoquiam

An old fish cannery may seem like an unlikely site for cool sunset selfies. But Hoquiam’s Old Cannery Park is a winner.

Tucked into the northern edge of Grays Harbor, the park is named for the old Haines Crown Packers fish cannery that was once located at the waterfront park. So this small park is not only a scenic, it’s also a unique and historic site to watch the sun set and snap that winning selfie.

Damon Point

Point Brown Road, Ocean Shores

Damon Point is named for A.O. Damon. He was one of the first non-natives to permanently reside on the Ocean Shores Peninsula in the late 1800s. On a calm, quiet evening you can stroll around his namesake, Damon Point, and snap beautiful sunset selfies to your heart’s content. Damon Point offers four miles of beachfront walking with water on three sides.

Friends Landing

300 Katon Road, Montesano

If you’re looking to capture vivid sunset colors reflecting off lake or river waters, this is the place. Located just outside Montesano with easy access to highway 12, Friends Landing includes 152 acres of recreation opportunities on the Chehalis River. If you’re not snapping selfies, options include hiking, fishing, camping, boating and bird watching along Lake Quigg. Friends Landing also has a campground with 18 RV sites and ten tent sites. So if you missed one perfect sunset selfie, you can easily stay another night or two and try again.

28th Street Landing and Boat Launch

28thStreet, Hoquiam

Want to add some perspective and a little height to your sunset selfie? Consider the boat launch and landing on 28th Street in Hoquiam. It provides direct waterfront access to the Chehalis River. If you prefer to keep your feet dry and stick to land, check out the site’s viewing tower. It offers a serene setting to take in the waterfront scenery. You’ll also get a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your sunset selfie.

Ocean City State Park

For a walk on the beach and selfies with ocean breakers in the background, Ocean City State Park is the place to go. As you wait for the sun to set you can also smell the salt air, watch the sandpipers, build a sandcastle and fly kites on the soft sand. Relax around a campfire in the forested campground to end a fun-filled beach day. Leashed dogs okay.

Lake Quinault

Perched on the southern edge of the lush Olympic Peninsula, Lake Quinault is famous for stunning vistas and its verdant rain forest setting in both the Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest. If you’re looking for rippling blue water, soaring evergreens and rugged mountains to frame your sunset selfies, Lake Quinault offers all of the above. And if you’ve worked up an appetite posing for all those awesome selfies, check you can grab a meal at the historic Lake Quinault Lodge or the nearby Salmon House.

Morrison Riverfront Park

Located in the west end of Aberdeen, Morrison Riverfront Park offers numerous opportunities for sunset selfies. These include shots from picnic tables, a viewing dock and landscaped walkway as well as a jogging trail. Stop at any point along the jogging trail for a selfie with the sunset shimmering off the Chehalis River.

Twin Harbors State Park
