Come and enjoy great music, vendors, food, and beer garden on the grounds of the Westport Maritime Museum. This 3 day music festival encompasses all genres of music.

The American Lung Association is holding Reach the Beach, an inaugural bike riding fundraiser, on Saturday, September 30. This event has staggered starts in Lacey (100 mile), Olympia (80 mile), Elma (44 mile), Cosmopolis 25 mile) with the finish line in Westport.

The last stop on the ride before the finish is at Westport Winery Garden Resort between 1pm and 4pm. The event closes with dinner on the beach for the anticipated 1000 participants. The race organizers will be selling Westport’s wines by the glass to participants and their guests during dinner.

The cost of the ticket covers entry into a door prize drawing, live entertainment, non-alcoholic drinks, and a large German themed meal. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

All money raised will be used to help our neighbors in the Grays Harbor community. Projects include expanding 1st Presbyterian’s facility into a larger community garden, purchasing hygiene and school items for distribution by local churches and nonprofits, other assistance for families and neighbors in need, and funding Saron’s new monthly after school and free dinner program. Come join the Grays Harbor Mounted Posse for their Gaming Buckle Series. Events take place at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena in Elma, October 7 & 8 at 9am. Events include: Poles, 2-barrel flags, Figure 8, Cal Stack, Key Race, and Barrels. Age divisions are: Pee Wee/8 and under, Junior /3rd.-5th grade, Intermediate/6th- 8th grade, Senior/ 9th.-12th grade, S. Senior/ 19.-34yrs old and Old Timers/35 and over. Cost to participate is just $25 for the day plus $5 arena fee. We offer a $5 discount for 4H or Equestrian team members. Events also include sorting, 2-man ranch and 3-man arena. The SongCatchers will perform their Dreaming In Color Album originally released on A&M Records plus additional songs on October 18th in Aberdeen at the Bishop Center Theater, a performance arts space known for great world music.

Coastal Interpretive Center’s Rayonier: 90 Years of Land Management is a presentation about the 90-year history of Rayonier’s land management and modern forestry practices, presented by Mark Smalley, Engineering Manager, and Dan Stransky, the Senior Timber Marketing Manager for Rayonier’s lands in Oregon and Washington.

The concert is a collaboration of the University’s music department, Office of Campus Ministry and Benedictine Institute. The tradition began 15 years ago as a way of honoring the University’s patron saint, Saint Martin of Tours, whose feast day is November 11.

“The Sacred Music concerts include Renaissance music, gospel, and contemporary music,” says Darrell Born, associate professor of music and Saint Martin’s Chorale director. “Readings and poetry will be interspersed throughout the concert to punctuate the performances.”

All Grays Harbor area nonprofits and school districts that fit within our Giving Priorities are eligible to apply for a small grant. Grants are available for requests of $5,000 and below.  Small Grant requests might include small scale technology needs, items for shelters or housing programs, food purchases for feeding programs, educational supplies for early learning or schools, small renovation or improvement projects, capacity building, etc. Organizations that are awarded small grants are still eligible to apply for our twice annual Community Building Grants program.
