Join the Mayor of Long Beach in rededicating the newly recommissioned “World’s Largest Spitting Clam.” This ribbon cutting ceremony will include the Clam’s inaugural “spit” and will feature the additions to this great attraction.

The shiny, newer replica of the original “World’s Largest Fry Pan” Clam Pan will be used for a clam fritter cook-off by the Ilwaco High School Culinary Arts Program students. Four celebrity chefs – Brock Johnson,Dahlia Lounge, Adrienne Chamberlain, Etta’s, Dezi Bonow, Palace Kitchen, and Liam Spence, Lola – from Tom Douglas restaurants in Seattle will be the judges.

Enjoy a week of razor clam digging! Diggers ages 15 and older must have a current 2014-2015 fishing license to harvest razor clams on state beaches. If you would like to participate in the dig, you can purchase a license online, here, and from license vendors around the state.

Under state law, diggers can take 15 razor clams per day and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.

Salty Saturday Project Party @ Historic Seaport

Come one come all.  Seaport Landing, Aberdeen’s new public waterfront and home port for the tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, is asking members of the Grays Harbor community to volunteer their time to prepare Lady Washington’s home for her 25th birthday celebration.

The Historical Seaport “Salty Saturday” Project Parties are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from now through May in preparation for our ships return on June 5th.  Salty Saturday projects are flexible and can accommodate individuals, groups or organizations.  Minors over 12 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our first Salty Saturday is scheduled for Saturday, March 1.

Inside and outside projects are available.  A Seaport Landing staff member will help volunteers find an appropriate project. Volunteers should dress warmly, even for indoor projects.  Volunteers interested in helping with gardening and landscaping should bring their own garden tools.

Professional Tokeland photographer, Marcy Merrill, will have her 10’x10′ traveling Camera Obscura set up on the winery grounds. An informal pinhole workshop will be available as well. Pintoid cameras will be available for purchase at an amazingly affordable price!

This 40 hour training is the first step in becoming a Certified Mediation Specialist.

The concepts and skills taught in the training are easily transferable and designed to improve communication and enhance relationships in all settings.

Space for this training is still available. Training starts Thursday, May 1 and continues through Sunday, May 4. If you cannot make it to this training, another training is available May 8-10. Click here for more information.

32nd Annual Oyster Feed @ Ocosta Recreation Hall

Enjoy all the oysters you can eat at this 32nd annual event. Guests will enjoy everything from steamed oysters and clam chowder, to spaghetti, cole slaw and more. Beer and wine are available for an additional fee.
