Each spring, hundreds of thousands of shorebirds stop to rest and feed along the Washington Coast and in the Grays Harbor estuary during their migration northward. Coming from as far south as Argentina, these Arctic-bound shorebirds are among the world’s greatest migrants. Some birds travel over 15,000 miles round trip! The concentration of birds during spring migration offers people a great chance to view a number of shorebird species.
Pre-registration is recommended for fee events and must be postmarked by April 16, 2018.
Artists compete for thousands of dollars in prizes in judged competitions on works including fine arts, photography, and 3D. Fine art will include oils, acrylics, pen and pencil, watercolor, pastel, etc. Photography pieces will include film, digital, and electronic media. 3D art includes pieces such as fiber art, leather work, carvings, sculptures, etc.

Students in the Cascades program receive FREE college education on local campuses, wrap around services, and extensive tutoring, mentoring, and skills development. Students also have the opportunity to earn Microsoft Imagine Academy certifications and industry-recognized credentials in healthcare or information technology via hands-on, practical experience.

Calling all artists and art fans! Village Concepts of Hoquiam – Channel Point Village is hosting a juried Art Show with the theme “Capture the Moment,” exhibiting the creative work of artists from the greater Grays Harbor community. Everyone is welcome! Painters, sculptors, photographers, multimedia artists and others are encouraged to exhibit. A Housing Stakeholder Coalition has been formed and is a platform for education and discussion around pertinent housing issues. OLYMPIA – Razor clam diggers can return to various ocean beaches for a four-day opening beginning Nov. 8.
State shellfish managers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig on evening low tides after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat. No digging will be allowed on any beach before noon.
The upcoming dig is approved on the following beaches, dates, and evening low tides:
• Nov. 8, Thursday, 6:57 p.m.; -0.8 feet; Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
• Nov. 9, Friday, 7:36 p.m.; -0.7 feet; Twin Harbors, Copalis
• Nov. 10, Saturday, 8:15 p.m.; -0.4 feet; Twin Harbors, Mocrocks
